Attending the conference were Dr. Ta Quang Minh (Director of the Intellectual Property Office), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities), and many scientists from various universities.
In his opening remarks at the conference, Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) emphasized the importance of intellectual property rights (IPR) as a fundamental component of multilateral and bilateral economic cooperation programs, including those in economic institutions that Vietnam participates in. Strengthening IPR protection in Vietnam to meet the growing demands of international economic integration has become an urgent necessity. While Vietnam has achieved significant progress in developing IPR legislation, the implementation of these regulations in practice has only been in its initial stages and has not yet achieved the desired effectiveness.
Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh emphasized that, in order to make Vietnam's intellectual property protection system truly effective, it requires comprehensive and synchronized measures across many aspects. Among these, developing human resources in intellectual property and enhancing public awareness of intellectual property through training and education programs at Vietnamese universities and colleges is of paramount importance in the current period.
With that in mind, the Student Scientific Conference on Intellectual Property, with the participation of many universities in Hanoi, is an annual forum aimed at connecting scientists, practitioners, and lecturers and students interested in intellectual property to jointly promote the effective enforcement of intellectual property in Vietnam in the context of international economic integration.

The conference received 23 student research papers from five universities. The papers addressed a wide range of issues in the field of intellectual property (IP), from reflecting the reality of IP infringement in various industries and sectors, to highlighting shortcomings in current IP regulations in Vietnam, and identifying the challenges facing Vietnam's IP as it increasingly participates in international forums. Many papers addressed IP issues through prominent current events such as: the Flappy Bird copyright infringement, book copyright infringement, the protection of trade secrets, and the protection of collective trademarks.
At the conclusion of the conference, the Organizing Committee presented the following awards:
- 1st Prize: Dao Thi Mai Quyen (Foreign Trade University) with the topic “Negotiations on Intellectual Property in the Trans-Pacific Economic Partnership Agreement (TPP)"
