Humanistic Youth: Pure heart - Bright mind - Courage - Aggressiveness - Integration

Attending the official session of the Congress on the morning of April 26, 2014 were Mr. Nguyen Van Thang (Member of the Central Youth Union, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Youth Union), Mr. Nguyen Hai Minh (Member of the Central Youth Union, Deputy Secretary of the Central Youth Union of Enterprises), Mr. Trinh Minh Thai (Deputy Chief of the Central Youth Union Office), Mr. Nguyen Thien Tu (Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Youth Union of Schools, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City Youth Union); on the side of VNU, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Van Huong (Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Trade Union, Head of the Political and Student Affairs Committee), Mr. Truong Ngoc Kiem (Secretary of the VNU Youth Union); on the side of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, there were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh (Party Committee Secretary, Principal of the University) and representatives of the Party Committee, the Board of Directors, the Trade Union, the Veterans Association, departments, centers, Party cells of faculties/departments and 201 delegates representing nearly 6,000 union members.

The Congress listened to the Summary Report of the Youth Union and Youth Movement of the University for the 2012-2014 term and the direction of activities for the 2014-2017 term. During the past term, the Youth Union and Youth Movement of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities achieved comprehensive results in all activities. The targets of the entire term were basically completed, including many excellent targets. The action programs of the University's youth were actively and effectively implemented, contributing to improving the quality of training, training ethics, political ideology for union members and youth. During the 2012-2014 term, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities Youth Union continued to be the leading unit in the movements of the VNU Youth Union and the Hanoi Youth Union. In particular, in 2013, the University's youth was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister.

During the 2014 - 2017 term, the youth of the University will continue to affirm the pioneering position of the Youth Union in the political system of the University, affirming its leading role in the VNU Youth Union movement, gradually promoting the special expertise of the Social Sciences and Humanities of the University's youth; taking political and ideological education as the orientation, focusing on activities to support union members and students in comprehensive development on the basis of effectively promoting the role of the union cadres and members, improving the quality of the Youth Union, Association Affairs, and branch activities. During the 2014 - 2017 term, the Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities takes the slogan: "Youth of Humanities: Pure Heart - Bright Mind - Courage - Aggressiveness - Integration" as the slogan of action.

Speaking at the Congress, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh (Party Committee Secretary, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) acknowledged and highly appreciated the contributions of the School Youth Union to the overall development of the University in particular and of VNU in general. At the same time, the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the School highly appreciated the achievements of the School's youth in implementing two programs: political and ideological education, moral and lifestyle orientation for union members and cultural, sports and art activities, volunteering to join the community.

The Principal emphasized that in the 2014 - 2017 term, the School Youth Union Executive Committee needs to focus on implementing a number of key tasks: The School Youth Union needs to pay attention to and foster ideals for its members and young people, and have many forms of education on political ideology, ethics and lifestyle for union members and students. In addition, the School Youth Union needs to have effective solutions to gather, encourage and create favorable conditions for union members and young people to complete their assigned tasks well and enthusiastically participate in social activities. At the same time, the School Youth Union needs to pay attention and have specific plans for planning and training the team of union officials from the branch, union level to the School Youth Union and have policies to encourage union members who have excellent achievements in work and study.

The Congress elected the Executive Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for the 2014-2017 term, consisting of 21 members. Comrade Tran Bach Hieu (Faculty of Political Science) was elected as Secretary of the University Youth Union, comrades Nguyen Thi Mai Lan (Rectorate Block) and Ta Thi Bich Ngoc (Faculty of Management Science) were elected as Deputy Secretaries of the University Youth Union.
