At the meeting, Dr. James L. Bellini said that he is planning to visit the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for one year as a visiting professor to achieve three goals in the fields of research/academics, cooperation/teaching and consultation on the topic of people with disabilities. Regarding research/academics, he wishes to learn about the policies of the Vietnamese government, services for people with disabilities as well as networks among people with disabilities. Regarding cooperation/teaching, he wants to build relationships with faculties and departments in the University that are interested in the issue of people with disabilities through teaching sessions, improving research skills, organizing research groups on people with disabilities and promoting international publishing activities. Regarding consultation, he proposed to help related faculties and departments in the University to build and develop curricula on counseling and rehabilitation for people with disabilities at different training levels.

Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh highly appreciated the proposals of Dr. James L. Bellini and believed that the two sides have great potential for cooperation in the above fields. In particular, at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the content of people with disabilities is currently included in the teaching of subjects of the Faculty of Psychology and the Faculty of Sociology. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities can take advantage of the knowledge and experience of Dr. James L. Bellini to serve research and teaching. At the same time, cooperation in research and teaching on people with disabilities in the context of Vietnam will greatly contribute to research on people with disabilities in general.
