Congress of the Trade Union of the Faculty of Management Sciences for the term 2014-2019

On April 17, 2014, the Trade Union Congress of the Faculty of Management Sciences for the 2014-2019 term was held. Attending the congress was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Vice Rector and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The congress heard a report summarizing the 2012-2014 term, outlined the direction and tasks for the 2014-2019 term, and elected the new Executive Committee of the Trade Union.

During the past term, the trade union movement of the Faculty of Management Sciences has achieved quite comprehensive results. The trade union has encouraged its members to strictly adhere to all policies and guidelines of the Party and the laws of the State, and to effectively implement the resolutions of the University Party Committee and the Party branch, as well as the resolutions of the higher-level trade union. The quality of trade union activities has been improved with practical content, contributing to the successful fulfillment of the unit's overall tasks.

The creativity and proactiveness of each staff member in their activities, especially professional work, have been enhanced to meet the requirements of standardization and modernization in the new era. During the 2012-2014 term, 100% of faculty members exceeded their teaching hour targets, and 100% of staff members had research projects. The Faculty had 24 articles published in specialized journals with ISSN numbers, 2 articles published in international journals, and 45 reports presented in domestic and international conference proceedings; 1 state-funded project, 1 VNU-funded project, and 2 university-funded projects were successfully completed; and 2 state-funded projects, 1 VNU-funded project, and 3 university-funded projects are currently underway. The trade union regularly organizes professional workshops for staff on topics such as: "Fundamental and comprehensive reform of Vietnamese education," "The 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and the results of border demarcation," "KPI and its application in human resource management," etc.

In addition, the Faculty's union has also achieved noteworthy success in caring for the material and spiritual well-being of its members, protecting their rights, and ensuring fairness, democracy, and transparency regarding their rights and policies. Activities related to women's affairs, culture, and sports are organized to support female members in their lives and strengthen the solidarity among union members within the Faculty.

The Trade Union of the Faculty of Management Sciences has been awarded a Certificate of Merit from the University's Trade Union, a Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam National University, Hanoi Trade Union, and a Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam Education Trade Union.

The Congress also approved the objectives of the Faculty's Trade Union activities for the 2014-2019 term, which is to continue building the Faculty of Management Science's Trade Union into a strong and comprehensively developed trade union in all aspects of its activities.

Speaking on behalf of the Party Committee and the School's Board of Directors at the Congress, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim assessed that the activities of the Trade Union of the Faculty of Management Science in the past term were diverse, rich, effective, and had new ideas, thereby making a significant contribution to the Party branch and the Dean's Board in successfully completing the tasks assigned to the Faculty.

Along with other units in the University, the Faculty's Trade Union members have demonstrated strong character and high political awareness in the face of major events in the country's political life, such as contributing to the Party's Resolution 6 on Science and Technology, the policy of fundamental and comprehensive educational reform to meet the requirements of industrialization and modernization, the draft revised Constitution, and representing the scientific community in strongly opposing China's illegal placement of an oil rig in Vietnam's continental shelf...

The Faculty's outstanding achievements in training and research include: successfully transforming the curriculum to meet output standards, developing the first Master's and Doctoral programs in Science and Technology Management in Vietnam. The University will soon entrust the Faculty with the development of a Public Policy program. In addition, the Faculty's research activities have also yielded good results, with many research projects completed on time. The faculty members demonstrate a high level of responsibility in research, as evidenced by the number of published works, articles, and books. With the addition of faculty members from the Institute of Policy and Management, the Faculty's research activities will undoubtedly be strengthened in the future.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim stated that the Trade Union should be a support system for its members during difficult times, fostering trust and promoting solidarity within the Faculty. He also welcomed the idea of ​​building close relationships between the Trade Union of the Faculty of Management Science and the Trade Unions of other units to enhance exchange, learning, and coordinated activities, thereby strengthening the power of the departmental Trade Unions.

The Deputy Secretary of the School's Party Committee emphasized: The Trade Union needs to constantly encourage and remind its members to continuously improve their skills, and the Faculty's Trade Union collective should constantly strive to maintain its pioneering position and make worthy contributions in its research and training fields.
