Reception of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Vietnam

On the morning of June 20, 2014, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Vice Rector) received Mr. Panyarak Poolthup (Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Vietnam). Also attending the reception were leaders of the Faculty of Oriental Studies.

Mr. Panyarak Poolthup has just arrived in Vietnam to begin his term as Ambassador. He expressed his desire to learn more about the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU and pledged to support and strongly promote cooperation activities between Thai universities and the University. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh shared some information about the research and training situation of Thai Studies at the University.

Another topic of discussion at the meeting was the contributions of universities to the plan to build an ASEAN community by 2015. Both sides agreed that research and training activities on ASEAN should be enhanced in universities. Students from both countries should be raised to be aware of their roles and responsibilities in building a prosperous and peaceful ASEAN community. Exchange activities between the young generations of the two countries should be expanded to enhance mutual understanding, which is the foundation for building a spirit of solidarity, for the development of each country and the Southeast Asian region.
