Receiving the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Vietnam

On the morning of June 20, 2014, Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh (Vice Rector) received Mr. Panyarak Poolthup (Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Vietnam). Leaders of the Faculty of Oriental Studies also attended the meeting.

Mr. Panyarak Poolthup recently arrived in Vietnam to begin his term as Ambassador. He expressed his desire to learn more about the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and pledged to strongly support and promote cooperation between Thai universities and the University. Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh shared some information about the research and training situation in Thai Studies at the University.

Another topic of discussion at the meeting was the contribution of universities to the plan for building a common ASEAN community by 2015. Both sides agreed that research and training activities on ASEAN should be strengthened in universities. Students from both countries need to have their awareness raised regarding their roles and responsibilities in building a prosperous and peaceful ASEAN community. Youth exchanges between countries should be expanded to enhance mutual understanding, which forms the foundation for building solidarity and the development of each nation and the Southeast Asian region.
