This morning, June 26, 2014, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held a graduation ceremony for students of the 2013-2014 academic year from the QH-2008-X, QH-2009-X, and QH-2010-X cohorts. Attending the ceremony were Ms. Liurka Rodriguez Barrios, First Secretary and Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Vietnam; and Ms. Thongny Duansakda, Second Secretary of the Embassy of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Vietnam.

The QH-2010-X cohort had 1,458 students enrolled, and after four years of study, 1,324 were eligible for graduation in this batch (accounting for 90.8%). The total number of students eligible for graduation at the beginning of 2014 was 1,513, including 1,324 students from the QH-2010-X cohort, 50 students from the QH-2008-X cohort, and 139 students from the QH-2009-X cohort. At today's graduation ceremony, 956 students were honored to receive their bachelor's degrees from Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - the Rector of the University.

The report summarizing the academic, research, and training achievements of QH-2010-X students recorded impressive results:

In the QH-2010-X cohort, 79 students completed their studies ahead of schedule. The major with the highest graduation rate was the Management Science program (CLC) with 100%. The Faculty with the highest graduation rate was the Faculty of Literature, in both Literature and Classical Chinese Studies, with a rate of 84.85%.

The QH-2010-X cohort had 1,712 students participating in scientific research, accounting for 38.24%; of which 18 students won first prize, 37 students won second prize, 34 students won third prize at the school level, and 3 students won prizes at the ministerial level.

The number of students graduating with Excellent grades was 12 (1.6% compared to 0.78% of the previous cohort); Good grades totaled 214 (29.1% compared to 25.58% of the previous cohort); and Fair grades totaled 544 (69.1% compared to 66.31% of the previous cohort). The percentage of students graduating with Good and Excellent grades increased by 4.27% compared to the previous academic year.

The QH-2010-X cohort has many students who have received the title of Outstanding Young Face at the University level, at the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the title of January Star, the title of New Era Youth of Hanoi, along with commendations from Youth Union and Association organizations at all levels.

The number of students in the QH-2010-X cohort receiving scholarships from sources outside the state budget was 324, an increase of 317% compared to the previous cohort. 39 students were admitted to the Party.

Five students of Cuban nationality, two students of Laotian nationality, one student of Chinese nationality, and one student of North Korean nationality received bachelor's degrees in Vietnamese Studies.

Some outstanding students of the 2010-X graduating class were honored at the graduation ceremony, including: Nguyen Anh Tuan (Faculty of Oriental Studies), who graduated as valedictorian of the entire university with a GPA of 3.81, and was recognized as an outstanding young person at the Vietnam National University, Hanoi for two consecutive years. Phung Chi Kien (Faculty of Political Science), with a GPA of 3.67, was recognized as an outstanding student of the university, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and the city for four consecutive years; he was an excellent youth union secretary, making significant contributions to youth union and community activities; and he represented Hanoi students at the World Youth Camp. Nghiem Thi Thu Trang (Faculty of Linguistics) and Nguyen Thi Anh Ngoc (Faculty of Psychology), both students with disabilities, overcame difficulties to achieve excellent academic results…

On behalf of the Party Committee and the School's Board of Directors, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim (Vice Rector) addressed the new graduates with the following message: Before becoming excellent scientists, researchers, experts, managers, teachers, and practitioners, please be good citizens, living responsibly towards yourselves, your families, and society. Cherish the beautiful memories of your years of study at the university, contribute to maintaining and spreading the flame of the 70-year tradition of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and bring glory to the university through your achievements and contributions in your future careers and lives.

Also at the graduation ceremony, 15 outstanding graduates received Certificates of Merit from the Director of VNU; 280 students received Certificates of Merit from the University for achieving excellent graduation results.

During the 2013-2014 academic year, the Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities awarded certificates of merit to 22 students with excellent academic results; 17 students with outstanding achievements in Youth Union and Student Association activities; and 17 students who made efforts to overcome difficult circumstances to excel in their studies.
