To ensure the tournament is organized effectively, in addition to inviting four participating teams – Hoa Lac Joint Team, VNU Office, International Faculty, and University of Social Sciences and Humanities – the Project Management Board invited the Center for Physical Education (VNU) to participate as the tournament coordinator.

According to the tournament regulations, teams compete under the rules of 7-a-side football, but each match lasts only 20 minutes. A win earns 3 points, a draw earns 1 point, and a loss earns 0 points. Four teams are drawn and play in a round-robin format; the team with the most points wins the championship.

Following the opening ceremony, the men's football team of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSU) drew 1-1 with the International Faculty team in their opening match. Next, they won 3-1 against the VNU Office team, and in the final match, they drew 0-0 with the Hoa Lac Combined Team. The USSU team earned a total of 5 points, the same as the International Faculty team, but with a better goal difference. Therefore, the first prize of the PMU-VNU Cup 2019 was awarded to the USSU team. Second prize went to the International Faculty team, and third prize was shared by the VNU Office team and the Hoa Lac Combined Team.

Despite being the first time it was organized, the PMU-VNU 2019 tournament was not only successful in terms of professional standards but also created a platform for units within the Vietnam National University, Hanoi to meet, interact, and connect. The Organizing Committee and participating teams expressed their hope that in the future there will be more tournaments on a larger scale, attracting the participation of many other member units within the Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
