To begin, Associate Professor Dr. Do Thu Ha (Head of the Department of Indian Studies) shared that Vietnam and India have a long-standing and close diplomatic relationship, especially in the field of people-to-people exchanges. India is a close friend of the Vietnamese people. During the most difficult times, India has always stood by the Vietnamese people, and that means more than any words.
On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Do Thu Ha expressed her most sincere gratitude to His Excellency Pranay Verma, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Vietnam, and to the Embassy and the Indian Cultural Center in Vietnam in general, for granting the university the honor of hosting this lecture as a meaningful activity in the series of events celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of the Father of the Indian Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
This activity further strengthens the cultural and educational cooperation between Vietnam and India in general, and between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Indian Embassy in Vietnam in particular. It can be said that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has always received the attention, assistance, and cooperation of the Indian Embassy in many excellent and effective scientific, training, and international cultural exchange programs.

Next, Dr. GB Harisha, Director of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, gave a lecture on the topic "The Middle Class in Contemporary Indian Society".
The middle class in India comprises a large proportion, 48% of the population. Many of them have risen to hold important roles in contemporary Indian society. This is an interesting and highly informative lecture for anyone interested.
Next, Dr. GB Harisha also shared some information about the life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. This was the first activity in a series commemorating the 550th anniversary of the birth of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism in India; a beautiful manifestation of the tradition of religious tolerance in the Republic of India today.

The exchange session concluded with a lively Q&A between the speakers and the audience. This was an opportunity for students to gain a better understanding of Indian culture and society, and also a chance for them to interact with Indian scholars in Vietnam, contributing to the development of a good relationship between the Indian Cultural Center and the Department of Indian Studies in particular, and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in general.

Faculty and students of the Department of Indian Studies (Faculty of Oriental Studies) take a commemorative photo with Dr. GB Harisha.
