This morning, June 15, 2010, the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held the official session of the 26th Congress with the participation of 123 delegates representing 333 Party members of the entire Party Committee.

This morning, June 15, 2010, the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held the official session of the 26th Congress with the participation of 123 delegates representing 333 Party members of the entire Party Committee.The congress evaluated the results of the implementation of the tasks of the XXV term and discussed and proposed directions and goals for the development of the University in the XXVI term. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Trong Quat - Party Secretary, Vice President of VNU - attended and directed the congress. The congress listened to the following reports:
  • Political report of the Party Executive Committee for the 25th term presented to the 26th term Congress;
  • Review of the Party Executive Committee, term XXV;
  • Report synthesizing comments on the draft Political Report of the Party Executive Committee for the 25th term to be submitted to the 26th term Congress;
  • Summary report of comments on documents of the 11th National Party Congress.


In the Political Report presented to the Congress, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Secretary of the Party Committee for the 25th term - affirmed: Although there are still some limitations in the targets for staff development, in adjusting the structure of professions and training quality, in general, with the efforts of all cadres, party members and students, with the close and resolute direction of the Party Committee, the Board of Directors, the Party Committee of the School has basically completed the goals set by the 25th Congress. The achievements in the past have brought the School to important steps forward, creating the premise for future development. Regarding the leadership of training, the School has continued to adjust the structure of training professions, opening 3 new training majors. The structure and scale of postgraduate training have increased sharply compared to 2006, from 25 master's training majors to 30 majors; from 16 doctoral training majors to 29 majors. Some majors/specializations that have achieved international standards have been and are being built and implemented for training: Linguistics, Modern and Contemporary Vietnamese History, programs under the French University Center including Organizational Management, Hotel Management. The school has also done well in training cooperation, diversifying training cooperation types in the form of 3+1, 2+2 with some universities in China, Korea, organizing dual training in English - Tourism, implementing training cooperation and technology transfer with Toulouse 2 University (France). One of the other outstanding achievements of the school in the past term was overcoming all difficulties to successfully implement the conversion of training methods from the year system to credits according to the plan, implementing innovation in university training management on a school-wide scale. Scientific research work has been well implemented according to the tasks and directions set out. The scale of research topics and funding has increased significantly compared to the previous period. Research products not only meet the requirements of society but also contribute effectively to the training mission of the school. Currently, the school is implementing 06 state-level topics, 156 national university-level topics, 123 grassroots-level topics, and has successfully organized more than 100 seminars, including 34 international seminars highly appreciated by domestic and foreign scientists. International cooperation activities have also achieved good results, contributing to training and improving the professional qualifications of staff, while promoting the brand, enhancing the prestige and position of the school. The school continues to maintain and develop cooperative relations with more than 100 universities and international organizations; conduct joint training with many universities in China, Korea, and France. The school was awarded the title of Outstanding Foreign Economic Activity Unit in 2009. The work of organizing staff in the past term has achieved some encouraging results: the number of young lecturers has increased, accounting for 50% of the total number of staff; the quality and professional capacity of the teaching staff has been improved. Currently, the number of staff with postgraduate qualifications accounts for 81%, of which 46% have doctoral degrees, over 20% have the title of Professor and Associate Professor. In particular, from October 2009 to 2010, the Party Committee has focused on directing the completion of the Board of Directors, leaders of departments, functional offices and a number of units in accordance with the principles, ensuring the stability and development of the school. Since 2006, the School Party Committee has continuously achieved the title of Strong and Clean Party Committee; in 2008 and 2009 alone, it achieved the title of Outstanding Strong and Clean Party Committee.

With the slogan of action: “Comprehensive and effective innovation, rapid and sustainable development”, the development goal of the Party Committee of the School for the XXVI term (2010-2015) is determined as: “Enhancing the comprehensive leadership role of the Party Committee to soon turn the School into a research university, with training quality and scientific research meeting regional standards, in which developing a number of majors/specializations meeting international standards, effectively contributing to the development of the country. Striving to be ranked in the top 400 universities in Asia by 2015”. The general directions are determined as:
  • Building a strong and clean Party
  • Comprehensive innovation of school management
  • Improve training quality, bring credit training tasks into depth at all training levels
  • Create a strong shift in building a team of staff
  • Improve the effectiveness of scientific research and international cooperation
  • Successfully implement the School's development goals for the 2010-2015 period.
At the end of the morning session, the Congress voted to elect the Party Executive Committee for the XXVI term, consisting of 17 comrades:

The Congress also voted to nominate the Secretary of the Party Committee for the XXVI term. This afternoon, the Executive Committee for the XXVI term will hold its first meeting. The Congress will begin its afternoon session at 2:00 p.m. and is expected to close at 5:00 p.m. the same day.
