Rector Pham Quang Minh visits the University of Nottingham (UK)

Within the framework of the project "Internationalizing education for better job opportunities: Developing a dual degree program between the University of Nottingham and Vietnam National University, Hanoi" and at the invitation of the University of Nottingham (UK), from February 25 to March 5, 2017, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities visited and worked at the University of Nottingham. Accompanying him was MSc. Luong Ngoc Vinh - Deputy Head of the Department of Cooperation and Development.

On the first day of the working program, the delegation of the University was welcomed by Prof. Nick Miles - Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nottingham. Here, the leaders of the two schools highly appreciated the role of promoting and further developing the image of the two schools to students of the two countries and affirmed that this project is a good start for the cooperative relationship between the two sides.

On the second working day of the trip, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh had a working session with Prof. Neville Wylie - Vice-Chancellor in charge of cooperation with the Americas, Prof. Katharine Adeney - Director of the Asia Pacific Research Institute, Dr. Catherine Gegout - Project Coordinator, Prof. Helen Foster - Deputy Head of International Cooperation, and Mr. Steve Vaccarini - Senior Manager of the Employment, Partnership and Student Exchange Program, University of Nottingham. Representatives of the two universities shared their views and wishes to create the most favorable conditions for their staff and lecturers to go to the partner university to do research for a maximum of 6 months, encouraging the implementation of comparative and inter-regional research between the UK and Vietnam. Leaders of the two sides also discussed the content of the dual degree training program to be jointly implemented and future research directions. The partner side also proposed the possibility of cooperation between the branches of the University of Nottingham in China and Malaysia with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; facilitate students participating in the dual degree program between the University of Nottingham and USSH to participate in internship programs in the UK and discuss the content of the official cooperation agreement between the two schools.

Also within the framework of this working trip, the delegation of the University President was also welcomed by Prof. Michele Clarke - Vice-Chancellor in charge of Asia-Pacific cooperation and Prof. Wyn Rees - Head of the Department of Politics and International Relations. The two sides introduced the training programs of the Political Science and International Relations majors of their respective schools and discussed in detail the tuition fees that may be applied to Vietnamese students when participating in the dual degree program at the University of Nottingham.

According to the project program, at the end of May 2017, the delegation of Nottingham University will visit the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to continue discussing in detail the proposed cooperation program and sign an official cooperation agreement between the two schools./.
