Welcoming the delegation from Saga University (Japan)

On February 10, 2017, Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) and representatives from the Faculty of Oriental Studies and the Office of Cooperation and Development met and worked with a delegation from Saga University (Japan) led by Professor Noboru Takisawa (Vice Rector, Director of the Center for Promoting International Exchange).

During the meeting, Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) stated that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a leading university in training and research in the social sciences and humanities. In 1995, the University established the Department of Japanese Studies under the Faculty of Oriental Studies and has been providing undergraduate to doctoral training in Japanese Studies. Among the University's partners, the Rector affirmed that Japan has always been an important partner in the strategy for developing international cooperation. The University has close relationships with Japanese universities such as the University of Tokyo, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Osaka University, and Showa Women's University.

Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) introduced the University to the Saga University delegation.

In response, Professor Noboru Takisawa, on behalf of Saga University, thanked the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for its warm welcome and proposed several areas of cooperation between the two sides, including student and faculty exchanges and joint training programs. Saga University hopes to collaborate with Vietnamese universities, including the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, to train and attract human resources for the production of small and medium-sized agricultural products in Japan.

To contribute to the realization of the aforementioned ideas, Professor Pham Quang Minh proposed that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Saga University sign a cooperation agreement in the near future. The Cooperation and Development Office will serve as the liaison between the two sides.

Professor Pham Quang Minh exchanged gifts and took commemorative photos with the delegation from Saga University. 

Saga University was founded in 1920 through the merger of the former Saga University and Saga Medical University. It comprises five faculties: the Faculty of Culture and Education, the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Science and Technology, and the Faculty of Agriculture. Graduate programs include the Faculty of Educational Studies, the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Agriculture, the Faculty of Medicine, and the Faculty of Science and Technology. Currently, Saga University has collaborative relationships with approximately 120 universities worldwide and has a student body of approximately 5% international students.
