On February 10, 2017, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) and representatives of the Faculty of Oriental Studies and the Office of Cooperation and Development had a meeting and worked with the delegation of Saga University (Japan) led by Prof. Noboru Takisawa (Vice-Rector, Director of the Center for Promoting International Exchange).

At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) said that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a leading university in training and research in the field of social sciences and humanities. In 1995, the University established the Department of Japanese Studies under the Faculty of Oriental Studies and conducted undergraduate to doctoral training in Japanese studies. Among the University's partners, the Rector affirmed that Japan is always an important partner in the international cooperation development strategy. The University has close relations with Japanese universities such as the University of Tokyo, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Osaka University, and Showa Women's University.

In response, on behalf of Saga University, Prof. Noboru Takisawa thanked the warm welcome of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and proposed a number of cooperation activities between the two sides through a number of cooperative activities such as student and lecturer exchanges, and implementation of joint training programs. Saga University wishes to cooperate with Vietnamese universities, including the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, to train and attract human resources to serve the production of small and medium-sized agricultural products in Japan.

To contribute to the realization of the above ideas, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh proposed that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Saga University sign a memorandum of cooperation in the near future. The Office of Cooperation and Development will be the focal point between the two sides.

Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh exchanged gifts and took souvenir photos with the Saga University delegation. 

Saga University was founded in 1920 through the merger of the old Saga University and Saga Medical University, and consists of five faculties: Faculty of Culture and Education, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Science and Technology, and Faculty of Agriculture. In terms of postgraduate training, there are the Faculty of Educational Research, Faculty of Economic Research, Faculty of Agricultural Research, Faculty of Medical Research, and Faculty of Science and Technology Research. Saga University currently has collaborative relationships with about 120 universities around the world and has a foreign student ratio of approximately 5%.
