On April 8, 2011, the first Vietnamese Studies and Language Student Scientific Conference was held. There were 15 topics registered for research by student groups. The students whose reports participated in the conference were all first-year students - the first student cohort of the Vietnamese Studies major. Although they did not have much time and were new to scientific research, the students actively collected documents, conducted field investigations and completed their research well. At the conference, 15 scientific reports were presented and discussed enthusiastically. These were also reports that the students themselves proactively proposed and registered for research. Summarizing the conference, Dr. Nguyen Thi Nguyet (Deputy Head of the Faculty) said: 42 out of 72 Vietnamese students studying Vietnamese Studies participated in scientific research, accounting for 58.3%. If foreign students studying this major are included, the rate is over 35%. Over 50% of the faculty members participated in guiding students in carrying out their research topics. Immediately after the conference ended, the Board of Directors announced the decision of the Dean and awarded prizes to the topics with excellent results including:
- First prize:Cultural Value of Lim Festivalby the group of authors Dao Anh Tuan and Nguyen Thi Cam.
