On April 7, 2011, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Agency for Francophone Universities (AUF), the French Institute for Research and Development (IRD), and the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences jointly organized a workshop entitled "Psychological Studies: Family Environment, Educational Environment and Child Development".The workshop was attended by Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh (Rector of the university), along with representatives from the organizing units, and many researchers, university lecturers, and doctoral students from Vietnam and other countries in the region. The workshop focused on research into the educational environment's impact on child development from a psychological perspective, through presentations such as: Approaches to psychological research in Vietnam; Family conflict in suburban areas undergoing urbanization; Research on psychological disorders in children in families experiencing violence; Current contributions of psychology to the development of children's abilities; Summary of psychological research in Vietnam and current research directions… This scientific exchange provided doctoral students with an opportunity to present their research to colleagues, receive feedback and critiques to further improve their research. This is also an opportunity for researchers to discuss theoretical and practical issues in the field of social sciences, with an emphasis on methodology. The workshop is the 9th session of the "Social Sciences Postgraduate Day" program, which began in November 2008. This is a regional program aiming to establish an international doctoral training institution with the participation of one or more universities from the Francophone community and Vietnam.
