Opening of the new school year 2008-2009

This morning, September 16, 2008, the Opening Ceremony of the 2008-2009 school year of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities solemnly took place at the Cultural Hall of Me Tri Dormitory.

Attending and sharing joy with a large number of teachers, staff and students of the school were Prof. Dr. Phung Huu Phu - Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Thuyet - Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescents and Children, Dr. Pham Quang Hung - Vice President of VNU, along with representatives of many units and organizations that are partners of the school.

In the past school year, with the efforts, determination and solidarity of the staff and students, the school has achieved remarkable achievements. Since the beginning of implementing the credit-based training model in the 2007-2008 school year, up to now, the school has basically completed a large amount of work that credit training requires such as: compiling new, converting training programs of all systems, building regulations... In addition, the school has focused on expanding training majors to meet social needs and strengthening links and cooperation with employers through a series of important cooperation agreements with domestic and foreign partners. International training cooperation models continue to be implemented and expanded in scale and quality. Scientific research activities among staff and students are promoted. The above achievements are demonstrated and recognized through the awards at all levels that the school's collectives and individuals have been awarded, through the increasing number of students graduating with good and excellent grades, through the number of research projects completed on time and with quality, many student research projects have received awards at all levels...

In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Principal of the School - assessed that the 2008-2009 school year is of great significance in the context that the entire education sector is continuing to vigorously implement the policies of the Party, the State and the sector. The theme of the new school year, in the spirit of the direction of the Ministry of Education and Training, is: "Promoting the application of information technology, innovating financial management and implementing the movement to build friendly schools and active students". The top priority task of the new school year is to continue implementing the campaign "Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh", associated with the specific requirements of the education and training sector, which are the "Two Nos" campaign and the emulation movement "Each teacher is a model of morality, self-study and creativity".

Acknowledging the achievements of the University in the previous school year, Dr. Pham Quang Hung - Vice President of VNU spoke at the opening ceremony: In the 2007-2008 school year, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has continued to affirm its position and high reputation in the Vietnamese education system, as a reliable address for training high-quality human resources in the field of social sciences and humanities, an address for international cooperation and integration in training and scientific research. The University is a pioneer in applying the positive elements of the credit-based training method. In scientific research, the University has made many efforts, especially in organizing many high-quality domestic and international scientific conferences.

Also at the Opening Ceremony, many individuals and groups of staff received noble awards and titles for their achievements, contributing to the cause of national construction and school development: Third-class Labor Medal for 7 groups; Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister for 01 group and 04 individuals; Excellent Labor title for 37 groups; Emulation Fighter title at the level of Hanoi National University for 24 individuals; Certificates of Merit from the Director of Hanoi National University for 13 groups and 14 individuals; Certificates of Merit from the Rector for 11 groups and 28 individuals.

The school also awarded certificates of merit and prizes to 51 students with excellent academic results, 43 students who are Class Officers, Union and Association Officers with achievements in studying and working, 42 students with difficult circumstances but still striving to study well in the QH-2005-X, QH-2006-X, QH-2007-X courses; awarded certificates of merit and prizes to 3 students of the QH-2008-X course who achieved the highest score in the 2008 university entrance exam; awarded 05 scholarships and prizes to 05 students with high results, students under social policies and students with difficult circumstances in the 2008 school entrance exam.

To officially open the 2008-2009 school year, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh beat the traditional drum to signal the beginning of a new school year with many expectations and determination of all staff and students of the school.
