This morning, September 16, 2008, the opening ceremony of the 2008-2009 academic year of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was solemnly held in the auditorium of the Me Tri dormitory's Cultural Center.
This morning, September 16, 2008, the opening ceremony of the 2008-2009 academic year of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was solemnly held in the auditorium of the Me Tri dormitory's Cultural Center.
Attending and sharing in the joy with a large number of teachers, staff, and students of the university were Prof. Dr. Phung Huu Phu - Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Propaganda Department; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Thuyet - Vice Chairman of the Committee on Culture, Education, Youth, and Children of the National Assembly; Dr. Pham Quang Hung - Vice Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi; and representatives from many units and organizations that are partners of the university.

During the past academic year, thanks to the efforts, determination, and solidarity of the faculty, staff, and students, the university has achieved remarkable accomplishments. Since the implementation of the credit-based training model in the 2007-2008 academic year, the university has essentially completed a large volume of work required by credit-based training, such as: compiling new curricula, converting training programs for various systems, and developing regulatory documents. In addition, the university has focused on expanding training programs to meet societal needs and strengthening linkages and cooperation with employers through a series of important cooperation agreements with domestic and international partners. International training collaboration models continue to be implemented and expanded in scale and quality. Scientific research activities among faculty and students have been promoted. These achievements are demonstrated and recognized through awards at various levels bestowed upon the school's collectives and individuals, through the increasing number of students graduating with good and excellent grades, through the number of research projects completed on time and with high quality, and through many student research projects receiving awards at various levels...

The theme of the new academic year, in accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Education and Training, is: “Promoting the application of information technology, innovating financial management, and implementing the movement to build friendly schools and active students.” The top priority for the new academic year is to continue implementing the campaign “Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh,” linked to the specific requirements of the education and training sector, namely the “Two No’s” campaign and the emulation movement “Every teacher is a moral example, a self-learner, and a creative individual.”
Acknowledging the achievements of the University in the previous academic year, Dr. Pham Quang Hung - Vice Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi - stated at the opening ceremony: In the 2007-2008 academic year, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities continued to affirm its high position and prestige in the Vietnamese education system, as a reliable institution for training high-quality human resources in the field of social sciences and humanities, and as a center for international cooperation and integration in training and scientific research. The University is a pioneer in applying the positive aspects of the credit-based training method. In scientific research, the University has made many efforts, especially in organizing many high-quality domestic and international scientific conferences.

The school also awarded certificates of merit and prizes to 51 students with excellent academic results, 43 students who were class officers, Youth Union officers, and Association officers with outstanding achievements in their studies and work, and 42 students from disadvantaged backgrounds who still excelled in their studies in the QH-2005-X, QH-2006-X, and QH-2007-X cohorts; awarded certificates of merit and prizes to 3 students from the QH-2008-X cohort who achieved the highest scores in the 2008 university entrance exam; and awarded 5 scholarships and prizes to 5 students with high scores, students from social policy backgrounds, and students from disadvantaged backgrounds in the 2008 university entrance exam.
To officially inaugurate the 2008-2009 academic year, Professor Nguyen Van Khanh struck the traditional drum, signaling the beginning of a new school year filled with expectations and determination from all faculty and students of the university.
