From funding from the Ford Vietnam Foundation and other funding sources, the Journal Donation Project (JDP) has provided hundreds of journal titles to 25 university libraries, research institutes and scientific resource rooms in Vietnam.
From 2005 to 2008, the Center for Information and Communications, VNU, Hanoi received nearly 100 printed journals on social sciences and humanities, languages, economics, law, etc. from this project. The possibility of extending the project implementation time depends on the effectiveness in using the collection.
JDP Services include:
-TOC(Table of Contents – Table of Contents):
-Provide full text of journal articles: By using TOC, readers can find articles that suit their research, teaching or learning needs. If the article is not in their library's collection, readers can request the project to provide it for free via email, mail or fax.
-Translate the article into Vietnamese: The project established 3 expert groups in anthropology, sociology and contemporary art. Each year, the expert groups select 4 articles/discipline to translate into Vietnamese and distribute to project member libraries. Individuals who wish to have this translation can request a copy from the project.
