Funded by the Ford Foundation Vietnam and other sources, the Journal Donation Project (JDP) has provided hundreds of journal titles to 25 university libraries, research institutes, and scientific documentation centers in Vietnam.

From 2005 to 2008, the Information and Library Center of Vietnam National University, Hanoi received nearly 100 printed journals on social sciences and humanities, languages, economics, law, etc., from this project. The possibility of extending the project depends on the effectiveness of using the collection.

JDP's services include:

ButTOC(Table of Contents):

  • The complete list of journals provided to the library system in Vietnam has been translated into Vietnamese.
  • This catalog provides Vietnamese libraries with a list of journals and the addresses of the libraries that own those journals.
  • Table of contents of journal articles - translated into Vietnamese
  • Links to the full texts of journal articles on three fields: sociology, anthropology, and contemporary art, which have been translated into Vietnamese.
  • Address:http://newschool.edu/centers/jdp- Accessible from any computer connected to the Internet.

ButProvide the full text of the journal articles.Through the use of TOC, readers can find articles that match their research, teaching, or learning needs. If an article is not in their library's collection, readers can request the project to provide it free of charge via email, mail, or fax.

ButTranslate the article into Vietnamese.The project established three expert groups in three fields: anthropology, sociology, and contemporary art. Each group of experts selected four articles per field each year to translate into Vietnamese and distribute to the project's member libraries. Individuals wishing to obtain these translations can request copies from the project.
