On November 5, 2010, the Center for Research and Development of Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Regions (University of Social Sciences and Humanities) visited and worked with the Provincial Youth Union and the leadership of Ngo Gia Tu College in Bac Giang province.Attending the meeting were, on the Center's side, Prof. Dr. Tran Tri Doi (Director), and Ms. Ngo Thi Hoa (Deputy Director); on the Bac Giang province side, Mr. Nguyen Duc Du (Deputy Principal of Ngo Gia Tu College) and Mr. Nguyen Hoang Trung (Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union). The main content of the meeting was to survey the number, economic circumstances, and academic performance of students at Ngo Gia Tu College. The survey results will serve as the basis for the Center to decide on awarding scholarships to ethnic minority students studying at the College. According to Ms. Nguyen Duc Du, Ngo Gia Tu College currently has a total of 1062 students, of which 140 are ethnic minority students. Most of these students come from disadvantaged economic backgrounds, and despite their efforts in their studies, most of them have lower academic performance than other students. Therefore, the scholarships that the Center intends to fund will be of great significance, both materially and spiritually, to the students of the school. On behalf of the Provincial Youth Union, Comrade Nguyen Hoang Trung affirmed that the Bac Giang Provincial Youth Union supports and will actively cooperate in organizing this meaningful activity. Also at the meeting, from a professional perspective, Professor Tran Tri Doi advised Ngo Gia Tu College to open more training programs to meet the specific needs of the locality.

The sponsorship program is expected to be held in mid-December in Bac Giang. This year, the Center for Research and Development of Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Regions has already provided sponsorship in Dien Bien and Thanh Hoa provinces with a total value of nearly 400 million VND. In particular, at the end of November, the Center will award scholarships to ethnic minority students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities who are facing difficult circumstances but have excelled in their studies.
