Eight out of the 17 participating units took part in the "Singing Contest for Staff and Students to Celebrate the 65th Anniversary of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities" on the first night of the competition, yesterday, November 10, 2010.Attending the competition were Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh – Rector of the University, Associate Professor Dr. Vu Duc Nghieu – Vice Rector of the University, along with representatives from the leadership of various units within the university and thousands of students. Notably, the judging panel included renowned and famous musicians from the Vietnamese music scene: composers Nguyen Cuong, Le Minh Son, and Pham Tuan Khoa.

The competition was held in a solemn and warm atmosphere. This year's performances focused on themes praising the glorious Party, the great President Ho Chi Minh, love for the homeland, the Vietnamese people, the capital city of Hanoi, honoring the teacher-student relationship, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and shining examples, ideals, and profound humanistic sentiments. The first eight units performed with elaborately prepared, magnificent, and impressive acts, with the entire faculty, staff, and students participating, demonstrating the close bond and friendship between teachers and students. Despite having only 20 minutes to perform, each unit strived to create a vivid and diverse impression. It can be said that each unit brought a unique color, idea, and mark to the competition. Sociology was dazzling and radiant; Tourism sketched a picture titled "A Glimpse of Vietnam"; Linguistics is both unique and diverse; Philosophy is profound and contemplative. Alongside this is the elegant and refined Eastern culture, and the "vast and burning love for the Vietnamese people and nation" of the Department of Vietnamese Studies and the Vietnamese Language. We cannot fail to mention the vibrant and youthful Department of Management Science, and finally, History, always oriented towards its roots.

And many more songs, melodies, and colorful performances from the remaining 9 units will resonate and be awaited in the second night of the competition, which continues tonight, November 11th.
