11 students participating in the exchange at Anteneo de Manila University gave 11 speeches on the topics of Japanese studies, the relationship between Vietnam and the Philippines in history through contact with Japan during the Edo period, as well as the ASEAN bloc towards Japan today. During the two days of exchange (December 12-13, 2017), students from the two universities discussed the content of the speeches as well as the students' common interests in Japanese studies. In addition, Vietnamese and Filipino students also received many comments and friendly help in organizing exchanges, tours... from lecturers during their stay in Manila. Students from the Department of Japanese Studies visited relics such as the ancient citadel, the Cathedral, the National Museum of Anthropology... to see the development process of the modern Philippines.

The delegation then traveled to Cebu City to attend the 5th Southeast Asian Japanese Studies Conference (December 15-16, 2016). Here, with the support of the Organizing Committee, the students actively participated in the subcommittees. These were valuable opportunities for the students to experience a lively, useful and practical academic atmosphere. Many students boldly asked questions and commented, in both Japanese and English.

It can be said that after this field trip, the students have gained many useful things about the position and role of Japanese Studies in particular and social and humanities research activities in general. Hopefully, the four final year students will have good motivation to complete their graduation thesis excellently. Finally, the exchange program of Japanese Studies students sponsored by TIFO has contributed to improving the quality of training and promoting regional and international academic exchanges of the Faculty of Oriental Studies.
