Peer evaluation of the quality of the high-quality undergraduate program in History.

This morning, January 4th, 2017, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities conducted a peer review of the high-quality undergraduate program in History.

Peer evaluation of the quality of the high-quality undergraduate program in History.

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the leadership of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, including the Vice Rectors: Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan; leaders of functional departments, the Center for Training Quality Assurance, and the Head of the History Faculty - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Van Quan and heads of departments within the faculty. The external evaluation team from Hanoi National University was led by Prof. Dr. Le Ngoc Hung.

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Tran Thi Minh Hoa stated: The University of Social Sciences and Humanities has been implementing quality accreditation activities for 11 years and considers this an important solution to improve the quality of training and research activities. Through accreditation, the University has identified both its strengths and weaknesses to address, in order to better meet the demands for high-quality human resources in society. To date, the University has had 14 undergraduate training programs participate in external evaluation, including 3 programs accredited according to the standards of the Association of ASEAN Universities (AUN). Since 2006, the University has been one of the first units to participate in accreditation according to the standards of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and since 2015, has participated in accreditation according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training. The accreditation results have been positive and show the University's progress in the integration process. Today's peer review of the History program's quality assurance is a continuation of the process towards regular quality assessment of all programs within the university in the future.

Professor Le Ngoc Hung, Head of the External Evaluation Team of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, expressed his gratitude for the cooperation of the University and hoped for frank and open exchanges between the University's staff, lecturers, and students and the evaluation team to achieve the best results. The goal of the evaluation is to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the training program based on the published standards, thereby proposing solutions and suggestions for improvement to enhance the quality of education.

Associate Professor Dr. Vu Van Quan – Head of the Department of History – introduced the history and activities of the Department, affirming that it is the cradle of learning and development for many famous scientists of the country; currently, it trains students in 8 majors of Historical Sciences; and has achieved many accomplishments recognized by the State and society in its training and research activities. The high-quality undergraduate program in History, implemented since 2001, aims to provide high-quality human resources in the field of History for society. Participating in quality assessment activities will create opportunities for the Department to further develop its achievements, while gradually standardizing its training and research activities in line with integration.

On January 4-5, 2017, the external evaluation team from Vietnam National University, Hanoi, will work at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities with activities including: researching documents, collecting evidence, and interviewing relevant individuals.
