On October 10, 2016, Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) received and held a working meeting with a delegation from Udonthani Rajabhat University (Thailand) led by Associate Professor Krisna Na Nongkhai (Director of the Institute for Research and Development). Representatives from the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language and the Cooperation and Development Office also participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) briefly introduced the history, scale of training, and international relations of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The University is a prestigious institution in training and research in social sciences and humanities. The Asian Studies program has trained many students with in-depth knowledge of Thailand and strong Thai language skills. Every year, the University sends students and lecturers for exchange programs and research at leading universities in Thailand. The University currently has official cooperation relationships with over 20 Thai universities, including Chukalongkon, Mahidol, Thamasat, Chiang Mai, Bangsomdejchaopraya Rajabhat, and Ubon Rajathanee. The University is currently aiming to internationalize its activities, therefore strengthening cooperation with foreign partners is crucial.

In response, Associate Professor Krisna Na Nongkhai thanked the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for the warm welcome and proposed several collaborative activities between Udonthani Rajabhat University and the University, such as organizing international conferences, student and faculty exchanges, and implementing 2+2 and 1+3 training programs. In particular, Udonthani Rajabhat University expressed its desire for the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to support the training and organization of Vietnamese language exams using the six-level Vietnamese Language Proficiency Assessment Test for Foreigners that the University has compiled.

Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh pledged to create the best conditions to support the training and assessment of Vietnamese language proficiency for staff and lecturers of Udonthani Rajabhat University. The Department of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language, along with the Office of Cooperation and Development, will be the focal point for cooperation between the two sides. The two sides expect to sign a cooperation agreement this year.

Udon Thani Rajabhat University, Thailand, established in 1923, is one of Thailand's developing universities. Currently, Udon Thani Rajabhat has over 21,000 students, including 242 international students, 479 faculty members, and 336 staff. The university has five faculties: the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Faculty of Management, and the Faculty of General Management.
