At the meeting, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa (Vice Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) briefly introduced the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Faculty of Tourism Studies. Currently, the Faculty of Tourism Studies of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a prestigious and branded training institution in Tourism Studies nationwide. The Faculty was the first institution to open a Master's program in Tourism in 2003, and the first faculty in the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to successfully open a dual degree program in 2009. In addition, the faculty's permanent and part-time staff have high professional qualifications, rich practical experience and qualified foreign language skills.
In response, Professor Kathleen L. Andereck said that Arizona State University wants to build a network of universities that research and train in tourism in Southeast Asia, with the first destination being the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Professor Kathleen L. Andereck proposed a number of forms of cooperation and exchange to implement the Memorandum of Cooperation signed by Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh (Former President of the University) and Professor Mark Scarle (President of Arizona State University) in 2015. Accordingly, the two sides will open more joint training programs for bachelor's and master's degrees in Tourism Studies according to the 3+3, 3+2, 1+1 system; coordinate the organization of international seminars and conferences on topics related to Tourism Studies; implement student and lecturer exchange programs; and exchange information on tourism.

Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa agreed with the proposals of Professor Kathleen L. Andereck and committed to creating the best conditions to support the implementation of these proposals as soon as possible. The Faculty of Tourism Studies will be the focal point for cooperation between the School and Arizona State University.
Arizona State University, founded in 1885, is the largest public university in the United States, ranked in the top 60 best universities in the world with nearly 65,000 students. This is the first time a delegation from Arizona State University has come to work with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Some faculties of Arizona State University are related to faculties of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities such as: arts and sciences, engineering, global leadership and management, journalism and mass communication, law, social sciences, public programs and sustainable development, etc.
