During the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) briefly introduced the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Faculty of Tourism Studies. Currently, the Faculty of Tourism Studies at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a reputable and well-established training institution in tourism studies nationwide. The Faculty was the first to offer a Master's program in Tourism in 2003 and the first faculty within the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to successfully launch a dual degree program in 2009. Furthermore, the Faculty's full-time and part-time staff possess high professional qualifications, extensive practical experience, and excellent foreign language skills.
In response, Professor Kathleen L. Andereck stated that Arizona State University wants to build a network of research and training universities in tourism in Southeast Asia, with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities as the first destination. Professor Kathleen L. Andereck proposed several forms of cooperation and exchange to implement the Memorandum of Cooperation signed in 2015 by Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh (former Rector of the University) and Professor Mark Scarle (Rector of Arizona State University). Accordingly, the two sides will open additional joint undergraduate and master's programs in Tourism Studies under the 3+3, 3+2, and 1+1 systems; jointly organize international conferences and seminars on topics related to Tourism Studies; implement student and faculty exchange programs; and exchange information on tourism.

Associate Professor Tran Thi Minh Hoa agreed with Professor Kathleen L. Andereck's proposals and pledged to provide the best possible support to implement them as soon as possible. The Faculty of Tourism Studies will be the focal point for cooperation between the University and Arizona State University.
Arizona State University, founded in 1885, is the largest public university in the United States and is ranked among the top 60 universities in the world with nearly 65,000 students. This is the first time a delegation from Arizona State University has visited the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Several departments at Arizona State University are related to departments at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, including: arts and sciences, engineering, global leadership and management, journalism and mass communication, law, social sciences, public programs and sustainable development, etc.
