On October 17, 2010, the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held a ceremony to summarize the trade union work of the 2009-2010 school year and a discussion on "Female civil servants and the issue of improving qualifications".On behalf of the school's trade union executive committee, Associate Professor Dr. Dang Xuan Khang (Chairman of the Trade Union Executive Committee) presented a summary report on trade union activities in the 2009-2010 school year. The report highlighted many important and outstanding achievements in trade union activities last year: actively participating in credit-based training, improving the quality and effectiveness of scientific research; participating in organizing the Conference of cadres and civil servants and implementing the Conference Resolution, ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of cadres and civil servants, carrying out social and charitable work; participating in adjusting and supervising the implementation of the Internal Spending Regulations in the direction of ensuring the legitimate rights of union members and in accordance with current regulations; building the trade union organization and directing the activities of the People's Inspectorate. In the 2010-2011 school year, the trade union continued to effectively implement emulation movements launched by trade unions at all levels such as: Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh, Each teacher is a model of self-study and self-creativity, Good at school work and good at home work, Innovation in university administration... In which, focusing on 3 key tasks of the trade union activities this school year are: - Focusing on mobilizing union members to thoroughly implement the regulations on training to improve the qualifications of cadres issued by the School. - Finding solutions to promote scientific research work - Promoting the movement to build office culture: strictly implementing labor discipline and collective activities. On the same day, the school's trade union organized a discussion "Female cadres and civil servants of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities on the issue of improving qualifications". This is one of the activities held on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Women's Union (October 20, 1930 - October 20, 2010). The introductory report of Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Quy (Vice President of the Trade Union Executive Committee) showed that although the ratio of male and female lecturers is equivalent, the number of female lecturers with master's and doctoral degrees is lower than that of men (the master's degree of female lecturers is: 40/148 MSc (accounting for 27%), the doctoral degree is: 53/133 PhD (accounting for 39.8%). 4 other reports and papers presented at the discussion focused on exchanging experiences, assessing advantages and difficulties, and proposing the best solutions for female cadres and civil servants to improve their qualifications. MSc. Nguyen Thi Nam Hoang (Faculty of Literature) said that studying to improve qualifications is both an aspiration and at the same time a responsibility for each female cadre and civil servant, that process has its own challenges that require female cadres to make more efforts. Paper "Improving the professional qualifications of female cadres of the Faculty of International Studies - Current situation and solutions" by MSc. Vu Anh Thu and Le Tuyet Mai specifically stated the difficulties in improving the professional qualifications of female staff of the Faculty of International Studies. Objective and subjective reasons for the failure to meet the qualifications of teaching staff. MSc. Vu Anh Thu and Le Tuyet Mai proposed a number of solutions: regulations on meeting international qualifications need to take into account the time factor; pay attention to financial support for staff during their postgraduate studies, doctoral studies, etc. Currently, the female staff accounts for more than 60% of the total number of staff of the school, of which young female staff account for a large proportion. Therefore, studying to improve qualifications is both a need and a task of each staff member of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
