Welcome, prospective students, to the online consultation program for registering for the second round of the 2011 university entrance exam at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities!
Before discussing the details, the school reminds candidates to check the school's second-choice application quotas.(Revised on August 17, 2011)Applicants for the Literature and Language Pedagogy major should note that they must include the school code QHS of the University of Education in form number 1 and submit it to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities as instructed.
Below are the answers from Mr. Dinh Viet Hai, M.Sc. - Deputy Head of the Training Department of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities:I scored 20.5 in the recent university entrance exam (including regional bonus points). Do I have a good chance of being accepted into the Sociology major at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities as my second choice?
MSc. Dinh Viet Hai: The Sociology major attracts many applicants from all three subject groups, so you should monitor the registration situation to get more specific information. Since you didn't specify which group you're taking the exam in, it's difficult to determine your chances. However, 20.5 points is a score not many candidates achieve, so I think your chances are high.
Candidates should specify their exam subject group when asking questions. My younger brother scored 20.5 points on the entrance exam for the People's Police Academy but failed to get in. I'm currently waiting for the results to be considered for the Police Vocational Training program. I also want to apply to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities as my second choice. I have a question: if I apply to the University and get accepted, and my brother gets accepted into the Police Vocational Training program, can I withdraw his acceptance letter and submit it to the Police Vocational Training program? (The results for the Police Vocational Training program won't be available until the end of September). Thank you very much!
MSc. Dinh Viet Hai: The application form for the second round of admissions is a document required for the school's admissions process. Therefore, when the list of applicants is released, the accompanying documents must be included, and the submitted form cannot be withdrawn.I took the entrance exam for the Law Faculty at the National University but failed. I only got 21 points (including 0.5 points for regional bonus). I want to apply for the Philosophy Faculty at the University of Humanities as my second choice. With the same score, do I have a chance of getting into this faculty?
MSc. Dinh Viet Hai: I think your chances of being accepted are among the top of the applicants because the average scores of candidates this year are not very high.Teacher, I'd like to ask when classes officially start if the enrollment date is September 4th?
MSc. Dinh Viet Hai: Please allow a few seconds for the admitted students. Students admitted under the first-choice program will enroll on September 4th, 2011, and will begin their orientation course on September 5th, 2011, and continue until the end of the week. Students will begin their specialized courses on September 12th, 2011.Nguyen Tam: Dear teachers, I would like to ask! In the enrollment quotas for each faculty, if the number of candidates from group D applying for the second round of admissions is less than the number of available slots, will the remaining slots be allocated to candidates from group C? Thank you!
MSc. Dinh Viet Hai: Adjusting quotas between different subject groups within a major, or between different majors, during the second round of admissions can be done based on the quotas of each major and of the entire university. For example, if major A needs to recruit students from group D but receives no applications, the projected quota for group D can be transferred to groups C or A within that major, or it can be transferred to another major.Quoc Trung: Dear advisors, I still haven't received my second-round application results. Where can I receive them? Thank you.
MSc. Dinh Viet Hai: The examination results certificates are sent by the Admissions Councils to the place where candidates submitted their application forms (except for candidates with code 99, whose certificates are sent to the address they registered). If you submitted your application at a high school, please contact your school.Huong: My younger sister plans to apply for the Philosophy department at the University this year as her second choice. I would like to ask for your advice on the following: First, when writing the university code, should she write the code for the University of Social Sciences and Humanities? Second, if she submits her application directly at the university's training office, will she be able to withdraw her application before 5 PM on September 8th, 2011, like those who submitted via mail? Third, she scored 19 points (including priority points). Is there a chance she will be admitted to the Philosophy department? Thank you very much!
MSc. Dinh Viet Hai: 1) Write the school code as QHX; 2) Whether you submit directly or by mail, you can withdraw your application according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. Of course, you must follow the instructions regarding time and procedures announced by the school; 3) 19 points is a relatively good score, you should confidently apply.
Program organizers: Currently, there are too many participants, causing the school's server to be overloaded, resulting in delays in answering questions. We kindly ask for your understanding! The program will continue until 5:30 PM, and after that, all submitted questions will be answered later today. Thank you again for your interest.Quyen: Dear teachers! I scored 20 points on the entrance exam for the Faculty of Economics, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. I want to register for the second choice in either the Linguistics or Literature department of the university, but I'm hesitant about which department to choose to have a higher chance of success. I would like your advice. I also want to ask if the university's curriculum is affiliated with other universities under the Vietnam National University to offer a second degree? Thank you!
MSc. Dinh Viet Hai: Did you take the D or A group exam? If you took the D group exam and scored 20 points, you can apply to one of these two majors and have a good chance because not many D group candidates achieve such high scores. If you took the A group exam, don't apply because these two majors don't accept A group candidates. The Literature major has many second-choice applications. The Linguistics major is an internationally accredited training program. These are things you should know. Member universities of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi have been promoting dual degree programs for students. This is a good opportunity for students of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi.Pham Van Hai: I took the law entrance exam, so can I apply for the literature program as my second choice? And with my score, what are my chances of getting accepted? I took the C-block exam. Thank you.
MSc. Dinh Viet Hai: If you took the C or D exam, you can apply for the Literature major as your second choice. With 19 points, you can confidently apply.Sang: Dear teachers, this year I'm applying to the Psychology department, Group C. Before registering, my exam notification slip had an error in the subject category, changing it from 01 to 00. I submitted my birth certificate and it was corrected to 01. I live in Son La Province, so I'm in Zone 01. Will I still receive both priority points? My total score for the three subjects is 15.5. If I add both priority points, I get 19 points. Will I be admitted to the Psychology program (Group C)? It's August 24th now, and I still haven't received my admission notice or application form.
MSc. Dinh Viet Hai: If you are recognized as a priority candidate (Category 1, Region 1), you will receive an additional 3.5 points, bringing your total score to 19. The cutoff score for Psychology in Block C is 18.5 points. You have been admitted to this program, and the admission letter has been sent to the address you provided in your application. Congratulations! We look forward to seeing you at the university on September 4th, 2011!La Thi Hue: Dear teachers, I wonder why some candidates who scored above the cutoff for their chosen major still failed to get admitted. Although I know the university only accepts enough students to meet the quota, it's still a shame for those who met the cutoff, or even scored higher, but still didn't get accepted. I scored 18 points (including priority points) in the History major at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, in the C-block exam. This is a major I'm very passionate about, so I only applied to this one major. If I hadn't met the cutoff, it wouldn't have been a problem, but I did, and I still failed. I know I'm not alone; other students also failed because of the "quota." So why doesn't the university give opportunities to candidates in such situations? I would greatly appreciate your opinions.
MSc. Dinh Viet Hai: According to the current admission regulations, the university has announced the cutoff scores for each major applied for, and therefore, there is no other option for candidates who do not meet the cutoff score for their registered major except to register for a second choice.Nguyen Chung Kien: I'm planning to apply for the second round of admissions to the university, but I'm worried about the military service transfer certificate. I was born in 1990, and three years ago I studied at the Polytechnic University. At that time, I applied for a military service transfer certificate from the district, but when I went to the university, they didn't require it. Currently, I've taken a leave of absence from the university to retake the university entrance exam. To this day, I haven't attended a single military training session and no longer have any related documents. I still have the military service transfer registration certificate from the past three years, but it has expired. According to military service law, that certificate can only be obtained once. So, I would like to ask what I should do if I get accepted into the university through the second round of admissions and the university requires me to submit that certificate? I would greatly appreciate an answer from the university to help me make a decision about applying for the second round. Thank you in advance. Wishing the teachers good health and success!
MSc. Dinh Viet Hai: You should contact the military command of the ward or commune where you live for guidance on reissuing your military service transfer certificate. I think submitting your application for the second choice of university is necessary because if you are not selected, you will have no basis to apply for a reissue of your military service registration transfer certificate.Xuan Hoa: Dear teachers, could you please tell me the difference between Literature and Vietnamese Language and Literature Education? If I register for Literature, will I need to take additional professional training to become a teacher? Thank you for your help.
MSc. Dinh Viet Hai: The Literature Education major differs from the Literature major in that the Literature major trains teachers to teach Literature in secondary schools, while with a Bachelor of Literature degree, in addition to practicing professions such as writing, journalism, and editing, with additional pedagogical certificates and suitable abilities, a Literature graduate can still work as a teacher.Bui Thi Thanh Huyen: My younger sister scored 17.5 points in the C-block exam, totaling 19 points including bonus points. She wants to apply to the Literature and Linguistics Education department at the University of Education or the Literature and Linguistics department at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. I would like to ask the teachers about the application fee. If I submit my application by mail, will the fee be included with the application form or paid separately? If I submit it directly to the school, what is the address for direct submission?
MSc. Dinh Viet Hai: Please note, it's Literature, not Linguistics. When you submit your second-choice application at the post office, you will be instructed on how to pay the fee. Do not put money in the envelope containing the application form. The application fee is 15,000 VND per candidate. If you have submitted and withdrawn your application within the specified time, the fee will not be refunded.hvan: Dear teachers, when will the official cutoff scores for the second round of admissions be announced, and when will students be admitted to the second round? I scored 20.5 in the D group; will I be admitted to the Literature department of our university in the second round? Thank you very much, teachers!
MSc. Dinh Viet Hai: The cut-off scores for the second round of applications are expected to be announced on September 19th or 20th, 2011, and enrollment will take place that week. With 20.5 points in Block D, I encourage you to apply to any major that accepts second-round applications because that's a very high score.Thanh: I scored 17.5 points in the C-block exam this year (including 0.5 regional bonus points). Do I have a chance of getting accepted into any department that accepts second-choice applications from the C-block? Where can I check the application status of other students? Today is the application deadline, and I don't know where to look. Thank you, teacher!
MSc. Dinh Viet Hai: Whether you get accepted or not depends on the scores of other applicants. Therefore, you should monitor the list of registered candidates published by the school on this website every day. You need to have accurate information because tomorrow is the start date for receiving applications for the second choice, not today. Therefore, the first list will only be available the day after tomorrow, August 26, 2011, if any candidates submit their applications.
This online consultation program ends here. Please continue to submit your questions, and we will post the answers tomorrow, August 25, 2011.
