On August 25, the independent national-level seminar on the topic “The impact of urbanization on the development of rural areas in the period 2011-2020: Theoretical issues and approaches” was held. This topic was chaired by Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Ba Thinh (Director of the Center for Population Research and Social Work - University of Social Sciences and Humanities).
On August 25, the independent national-level seminar on the topic “The impact of urbanization on the development of rural areas in the period 2011-2020: Theoretical issues and approaches” was held. This topic was chaired by Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Ba Thinh (Director of the Center for Population Research and Social Work - University of Social Sciences and Humanities).The workshop was attended by Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim (Vice Principal of the School), scientists and researchers from universities and research institutes. The workshop scientists participated and contributed to the discussion of the impacts of urbanization on the development of rural areas in the period 2011 - 2020, approaching from theoretical and methodological issues. Professor Dr. To Duy Hop - Vietnam Sociological Association emphasized: in the process of linking social policy with current rural development practices, the approach and method of approaching the research problem can be considered as the hinge that determines the effectiveness and feasibility of the policy. Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Ba Thinh researched the impact of urbanization on rural areas, focusing on the following topics: Basic viewpoints of the Party and State on urban planning and urbanization, basic viewpoints of the Party and State on rural development and new rural construction, urbanization in some ASEAN countries... With the topic: new rural construction policy comparing Korea and Vietnam, Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Ba Thinh gave some lessons for Vietnam from the success of the new village movement in Korea: building a development team in rural areas; training rural development for cadres and intellectuals, stimulating the spirit of competition between villages and communes; the state supports materials, people contribute labor... Associate Professor, Dr. Le Ngoc Hung (Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Public Administration) presented some viewpoints and social science theories on urbanization and rural development through the following aspects: nature, economy, society and humanity. Dr. Nguyen Duc Chien (Institute of Sociology) put forward a number of theories on agricultural and rural development: highlighting the role of agriculture in the process of preparing for industrialization, advocating for agricultural societies to "jump straight" into urban industrialization, harmoniously combining agriculture and industry, rural and urban areas in the development process... The independent state-level topic "Impact of urbanization on the development of rural areas in the period 2011 - 2020: Theoretical issues and approaches" chaired by Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Ba Thinh was carried out in 2010 - 2011. After the workshop discussing theoretical issues and approaches, a workshop on survey and practical issues will also be held in the coming time. It is expected that the topic will be completed and accepted by the end of this year.
