Following the welcoming cultural performances, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh, Rector of the University, delivered the opening speech for the anniversary celebration. The speech highlighted the achievements of the faculty and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities over the past 70 years.
Exactly 70 years ago, on October 10, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh signed Decree No. 45, establishing the Faculty of Literature, the predecessor of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi today. Over 70 years of development, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has achieved many great accomplishments in all fields, from training and scientific research to advising and contributing to policies for the Party and the State. From this institution, many generations of students have become excellent leaders, scientists, administrators, and professionals in various fields, making important contributions to the cause of national construction and defense.
With a rich tradition spanning 70 years and 20 years since its establishment, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, has been honored by the State with many prestigious titles: the First-Class Labor Order (1981), the First-Class Independence Order (2001), the title of Hero of Labor in the Renovation Period (2005), and the Ho Chi Minh Order (2010).
During the celebration of the school's 70th anniversary and 20th anniversary, with the achievements and outstanding accomplishments attained, the school was awarded the First-Class Labor Medal for the second time by the Party and the State.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Vu Duc Dam expressed his gratitude to the generations of teachers, scientists, leaders, managers, and staff of the University who have contributed their efforts and intellect to the development of Vietnamese science, making important contributions to the cause of national liberation, building and developing the country.
Over the past 70 years, the University has continuously strived to be a leader in the country in the fields of social sciences and humanities. From this institution, thousands of graduates, masters, and doctoral degree holders have been trained, worked, contributed, and sacrificed for the nation. Many renowned educators, scientists, socio-political activists, and administrators from this university have made significant contributions to the people and the nation. Numerous research projects by the University's experts and scientists have ignited a fervent patriotic tradition and a spirit of courageous struggle, clarified and enriched the roots and cultural identity of the nation, provided authentic scientific evidence of national territorial sovereignty, and built the country's position and its relations with other nations, regional organizations, and the world.
The university has made significant contributions to the development of social sciences and humanities in particular, as well as to science, education, and the cause of national construction and defense. The university's academic level and quality are admired by society and highly regarded internationally.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized, "The history of mankind has affirmed that the vitality, strength, and future of a nation stem not only from its economic potential but, more profoundly, from its culture and its people. Social sciences and humanities study and synthesize the movements, relationships, social structures, and human issues... Therefore, the teachers, scientists, and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities have the mission of being pioneers in motivating the younger generation and the entire society to promote positive cultural values, cultivate patriotism and national pride, and ignite the flame of aspiration and determination to work together to strengthen the country in all aspects."
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam also expressed his confidence and certainty that, with its achievements and 70-year tradition of development, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, will certainly continue to develop strongly, becoming a high-quality research university with an increasingly prominent position in the regional and global university system.

From the Faculty of Literature to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi 1. A prominent and consistent feature throughout the existence and development of the School is...A tradition of patriotism, a willingness to sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the nation, for national unity, and to protect the sacred territorial and maritime sovereignty of the homeland.The first generation of professors at the Faculty of Literature were mostly patriotic intellectuals who, responding to the call of the nation and inspired by President Ho Chi Minh, dedicated their lives to education and scientific research throughout the two arduous and perilous wars of national liberation. Following in the footsteps of their predecessors, many faculty and students of the University enthusiastically joined the fight, traversing the Truong Son mountain range to save the country, contributing to the liberation of the South and the reunification of the nation. The dedication and sacrifice of heroic martyrs such as Le Anh Xuan, Chu Cam Phong, and many other lecturers and students have erected eternal monuments and are a source of pride for many generations of the University today. 2. IsA major scientific institution of the country, with a long-standing tradition and a commitment to reaching scientific heights.This spirit has deeply permeated the thoughts and aspirations of generations of teachers and students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, vividly imprinting the academic spirit of the University.
