On April 22, 2014, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) received Ms. Hoang Thi Kim Yen (Director of the Personnel and Organization Department of the National Assembly Office).

Proposal to establish a cooperative relationship with the National Assembly Office.

During the meeting, representatives from the National Assembly Office proposed establishing a formal cooperation relationship with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the fields of research and training on issues related to policy planning, public policy, etc.

Professor Nguyen Van Khanh highly appreciated the above proposal and affirmed that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is ready to cooperate with the National Assembly Office in related activities to help improve the effectiveness of National Assembly deputies, as well as to leverage the University's strengths in providing policy advice to government agencies.

The Rector emphasized: The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a leading university in Vietnam in the field of social sciences and humanities, with a strong team of scientists and extensive cooperation with over 180 international partners. The field of public policy management is a focus of the University's development, based on close international cooperation with many international partners such as the Singapore Institute of Public Policy, the University of Naples (Italy), the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation (Germany), etc. The University is currently tasked by the Vietnam National University, Hanoi with producing an annual report on economic and social issues. Participating in research and development consulting programs for the Northwest region… The University has a Policy Advisory Council comprising former politicians, senior government management experts, and leading scientists, who regularly propose valuable recommendations to government agencies on various issues related to social sciences and humanities, socio-cultural development… Currently, the two key focal points of the University in collaborative activities related to management science and policy are the Faculty of Management Science and the Institute of Policy and Management.

GProfessor Nguyen Van Khanh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities), and Ms. Hoang Thi Kim Yen (Director of the Personnel and Organization Department, National Assembly Office)and representatives from the leadership of several research institutes, faculties, and functional departments within the University at the working session.

Initially, both sides discussed several potential future cooperation activities between the National Assembly Office and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities will conduct research and rapid policy assessments to meet the information needs of National Assembly deputies; collaborate on annual policy research; organize short-term training courses on policy analysis and planning skills for National Assembly deputies and civil servants of the National Assembly Office, the Central Party Office, and the Presidential Office; conduct research to provide practical documents and arguments to meet the information needs of National Assembly deputies; and cooperate in postgraduate training in Public Policy for National Assembly deputies of the Lao People's Democratic Republic within the framework of the cooperation program between the National Assembly Offices of the two countries.
