- Ladies and gentlemen,

Dear bereaved family!

Comrade Tran Trong Cao was born on June 27, 1948, in a family with a patriotic tradition in Hoa Hau village, Nhan Hoa commune, Ly Nhan district, Ha Nam province. Growing up in the midst of the nation's long resistance wars, during those years of many dangers and challenges, despite his young age, he still enthusiastically participated in local work and then became the Secretary of the Youth Union, Deputy Platoon Leader of Nhan Hoa commune militia. In 1965, at the age of 17, he volunteered to join the Youth Volunteer Force to fight against the Americans to save the country, working at Station 14, Quang Binh province. Due to his many achievements in work and combat, in March 1967, he was honored to be admitted to the Party right in the land of steel, the fire line of Quang Binh.

In August 1967, like many other young people at that time, Comrade Tran Trong Cao enthusiastically joined the Vietnam People's Army, worked at Group 559, and was assigned the position of Engineer Platoon Leader of the heroic Truong Son Corps. In fierce fighting conditions, together with his comrades, he created fake battlefields and transport convoys to deceive the enemy, to attract the enemy's bombs and bullets, so that the East Truong Son - West Truong Son routes and the Ho Chi Minh trail could be cleared. In April 1969, while participating in the battle on Route 20 Quyet Thang, he was robbed of a part of his body by enemy bombs and was taken to Hospital 91 for treatment, then Group 231 of the Viet Bac Military Region, and was recognized as a 2/4 class disabled soldier.

In September 1971, young disabled soldier Tran Trong Cao was sent to study at the Disabled War Cultural School of Hai Hung province. During this time, he was both enthusiastic about studying and actively participating in movement activities, taking on the duties of a member of the Executive Committee of the Youth Union and Deputy Secretary of the Party Cell. With his efforts and determination to overcome difficulties, in February 1974, he passed the entrance exam to the Chemistry Department of Hanoi University. After graduating from university in November 1977, he continued to be selected for training at the Central Propaganda School I, then returned to the School to work and worked with the Philosophy Department of Hanoi University and then the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU until his retirement.

- Ladies and gentlemen,

Dear bereaved family!

Comrade Tran Trong Cao was not only a manager but also a teacher of many generations of students. In the university lecture halls, he used all his intellectual resources, faith and love for the Party, the doctrine of Marxism-Leninism... to teach political theory to students. Remembering Mr. Tran Trong Cao, many generations of students from the former General University and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities always remember a kind, simple and extremely enthusiastic teacher. He always loved and cherished his students, especially those with especially difficult circumstances.

As a party member and lecturer, comrade Tran Trong Cao has always been a typical example of pioneering spirit, responsibility, and daring to think and act. During his years working at the University, especially in the early years when the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was newly established, he worked with all his heart with the Board of Directors and the entire University, together making efforts to create the first orientations and foundations, which are very fundamental for the long-term development of a university.

Thanks to his ability in work, moral qualities and high sense of responsibility for his work, comrade Tran Trong Cao has always been trusted by the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and assigned many important responsibilities: Head of Department, Deputy Secretary of the Party Cell of the Faculty of Philosophy; Head of the Administration - Propaganda - Foreign Affairs Department; Head of the Political and Student Affairs Department; Head of the Organization and Personnel Department, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee. In any position, comrade Tran Trong Cao has always demonstrated the noble qualities of a teacher, an administrator, a communist and always fulfilled his duties well. The collective of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will forever remember his important contributions to the development of the University.

During more than 40 years of work, with his achievements, comrade Tran Trong Cao was awarded noble titles and honors by the Party, State and Army:4 Certificates of Merit from Group 559, First Class Medal of Resistance Against America,Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister,Third Class Labor Medal,40-year Party membership badge...

In daily life, comrade Tran Trong Cao always maintained the character and steadfastness of a communist soldier. He lived peacefully, optimistically, with trust and loyalty to his comrades, family, friends and colleagues. Bombs and bullets of war, the harsh challenges of life could not subdue the will of this veteran. He was an example of rising up, of the desire to live. Although he lost a part of his body in the war, he was still optimistic about sports, actively trained and achieved many achievements in competitions:Gold, silver, bronze awardsNational Athletics for the Disabled; participated in international competitions such as the Asia-Pacific Asian held in Beijing, participated in and completed the Great Wall conquest competition in China and then continued to be invited to participate in the famous annual Marathon competition in the US for 3 consecutive years: 1995, 1996 and 1997. Many of us still remember the image of the athlete, wounded soldier, veteran with great courage and determination with a disabled leg and bleeding knee, who overcame more than 42 km of running to become one of the first Vietnamese to raise the red flag with yellow star on American soil, touching the hearts of thousands of international friends.

He not only fought, sacrificed his youth and blood for the independence and freedom of the nation, but also contributed to the building of peace. Before the normalization of relations between Vietnam and the United States, the photo of the wounded soldier and veteran Tran Trong Cao walking with his arm around the shoulder of the American veteran Kelly on the crowded sidewalk of New York City was published by the American and international press as one of the proofs of altruism, humanity, justice and peace.
