Ta Binh An is one of the typical examples honored at the program "Shining Vietnamese Willpower" 2023. Every day An takes the bus to work.
This 23-year-old student from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) is interning at the reception desk of a spa in Hanoi's Old Quarter.
The shop has about a dozen young blind people working. Every day An meets many customers, including foreign tourists visiting Vietnam.
Studying psychology is a good opportunity for you to apply your learning to understand customer needs and psychology, and improve your English skills.
An and her mother are both visually impaired, relying on each other in a small house. Sometimes you feel sad because when they were young, they could not go to school or play naturally like other children. One day, by chance, An was helped by a benefactor to go to Hanoi for eye surgery. That was the first time An left her hometown to go to the capital, and she was filled with the hope that she would be able to see the colors around her.
But things did not change after the surgery. He stayed in Hanoi, attended a school for the blind and began his independent days. There are thousands of difficulties for people without sight, the most difficult is learning from documents. So the way An overcomes this is to ask friends to help him find documents, take notes or record lectures to listen to at home and absorb more thoroughly.

That determination helped An win a ticket to university, gradually shed her shy shell, choose to integrate into the new environment, and proactively connect with people around her. She joined the Youth Union - Association activities, became the vice president of the Hoa Da Club or organized fundraising activities to help people in difficult circumstances, and actively contributed to the disabled community.
But the most memorable moment was when An coordinated the Hand Project with the goal of enhancing communication skills for people with disabilities through film production.
The film you produced helps people understand more about the lives of people with disabilities, that they can go to school, play, and use technology to serve the essential needs of life.
An said that many disabled people, including visually impaired people like herself, face many barriers when looking for a job. "When I graduate, I want to develop my business and provide psychological counseling for the disabled community, creating a safe and professional environment for disabled people to confidently work and develop themselves," An set a goal.
