Nguyen Kim Tung is a staff member at the Office of the Youth Union - Student Association of Hanoi National University. |
Perhaps the most difficult time for young Youth Union official Kim Tung was when he didn't get accepted into his first-choice major – his most desired field of study – and had to choose a completely unfamiliar field that he hadn't researched in depth. At that time, he struggled with the decision of whether to continue or stop, and was hesitant about making the right choice. With the determination and enthusiasm of an 18-year-old, he chose to confidently embark on this completely new path and has no regrets about that decision.
After four years of studying Management Science at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, young officer Kim Tung immersed himself in a dynamic and creative environment. From there, his passion for youth union work and youth movements was ignited and grew stronger over the years.

The young officer said: "Fortunately, during my most discouraging moments, my family was always there to encourage me, which motivated me to achieve the modest accomplishments I have today. This path has allowed me to interact with and become more involved in social work-related activities."
During his university years, he had the opportunity to participate in both the Youth Union and the Student Association, and served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Hanoi City Student Association. Starting as a young man passionate about volunteer work, his journey included volunteer trips to new places such as Son La, Ha Giang, Dien Bien, Cao Bang, Nghe An, and Quang Tri. Following that, he participated in student activities and events such as the Freshman Welcome Program, the Humanities Leaders program, and other activities supporting student learning and scientific research.

For Kim Tung, the activity that left the biggest impression on him was the journey to bring the Mid-Autumn Festival to the children in Lang Nhi village, Tram Tau district, Yen Bai province. The Youth Union official recalled: “Our team consisted of 15 members, marching through the forest to reach the school to organize the Mid-Autumn Festival for the students. Seeing the sparkling eyes and joy of the children, I felt both tired and proud because I and my teammates had done something meaningful for society.”
The results of the "Ringing the Golden Bell" competition organized by the Hanoi City Student Union served as a motivational message, giving student Kim Tung the confidence to continue his studies and become more steadfast on his chosen path. As proof of his efforts, Kim Tung has received numerous commendations from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Union for his outstanding achievements in student union activities and student movements over the years.

Besides his immense love for the youth union's blue uniform, young Party member Kim Tung is always striving every day to uphold his role and fulfill the noble responsibilities of a vibrant and approachable student union official. |
Currently, Kim Tung holds the position of specialist at the Office of the Youth Union - Student Association of Hanoi National University. He shared: “I am fortunate that after graduating from university, I continued to be involved in the Youth Union and student activities at the university to hone and improve myself. Working in a higher education institution, being very close to the students, perhaps what I learned the most was the spirit of young people, always enthusiastic, passionate, and full of positive energy. Besides that, I was exposed to many good models and creative approaches that serve as lessons for me to continue developing and exploring new solutions.”

Besides supporting Youth Union members, advising, and organizing activities for students in the school, this young officer is also actively involved in the academic field. Recently, at the 2nd Global Young Vietnamese Scientists Conference with the theme "Youth in the Context of Digital Transformation" organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Union, he and his colleagues contributed a research paper titled "Ensuring Children's Access to Education in Online Learning Support Policies for Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Regions in Vietnam Today" and received a Certificate for Outstanding Research Paper.
The young teacher was most impressed by the saying: "Life arises from death, happiness emerges from sacrifices and hardships; in this life, there are no dead ends, only boundaries, and the essential thing is to have the strength to cross those boundaries..." Perhaps this is the guiding principle for the young Youth Union official whenever he needs advice, and he hopes that this message will spread and that many young people will feel positive and strive tirelessly.
