The first impressions

Monday - August 24, 2015 15:43
These are small pieces of a puzzle, each new student and their parent taking their first steps into the Faculty of Humanities on their first day of enrollment. These pieces are made up of small details, perhaps the smiles of the enthusiastic staff in their green uniforms, or the lovely little gifts from senior students. All of these create those first impressions.

Humanism in the eyes of new students

Friendly blue shirt

Energetic, enthusiastic, always dedicated, and friendly when participating in school activities – these are the characteristics of the young men and women in the blue volunteer uniforms of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. As one of the forces accompanying all activities and events of the University, during the recent enrollment period, the student volunteer team of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities always completed their work well with the enthusiasm of youth, love for the school, and above all, for the "little ones" who have just joined the shared home of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities.

On the recent enrollment day, student volunteers arrived very early to coordinate with teachers and staff in welcoming and guiding the new K60 students through the enrollment process.

This year, to facilitate the student registration process, the university organized enrollment in multiple shifts, thus requiring more time from the volunteers. For each shift, the volunteers in their blue uniforms organized themselves into small groups, positioned in different locations. One group welcomed and guided new students and their parents from the entrance gate to the courtyard of building G; another group worked in the lecture hall corridors, guiding new students to their specific rooms; and a group of students directly assisted the faculty.

In the hallways of the reception areas, student volunteers are always on hand to assist new students.

The main activities of the student volunteer team are to assist the training department staff in checking the documents of new students during the enrollment process; and to guide, share information, help, and answer questions to the best of their ability for new students and their families.

The close and friendly atmosphere in all activities will create memorable experiences for the new students and their parents. These initial images further reinforce the trust parents place in the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

"We simply thought this was a necessary task for new students who were still unfamiliar with the environment, and for ourselves. The work wasn't anything extraordinary, but it could help students, upon their first arrival at the university, overcome some of their shyness and complete the procedures quickly and conveniently to officially become students of the Faculty of Humanities. This was also an opportunity for the volunteers to make a good first impression on the new students about the young people of the Faculty of Humanities: cheerful, friendly, enthusiastic, and dedicated," shared Tran Thi Bich Loan.

The first gift - words of love from those who came before.

To welcome the new students, the Faculties, Departments, and students from all cohorts prepare plans to get acquainted and make a good first impression on the new generation. Following a long-standing tradition, the K58 Public Relations students always prepare small, thoughtful gifts to give to their younger peers. After completing the enrollment procedures in the lecture halls, the new students will have the opportunity to interact with their seniors and receive gifts, expressing greetings and encouragement from their先輩 (senior students).

"We wanted to have an activity to welcome the new students, showing the friendliness and enthusiasm of the senior students. So we prepared some small gifts. The gifts included a pen, a notebook, an information sheet about the Faculty and the University, and notes for new students in Hanoi about accommodation and buses," shared Vuong Quoc Anh, K58 Public Relations.

In addition, the K58 Public Relations class has set up a hotline using the phone numbers of their seniors so that new students can call when they need help. This activity is very useful for new students who are feeling a bit lost as they enter university.

Following the same idea as the Public Relations students, the faculty and students of the Information and Library Science department also have their own gifts for the new generation. The gifts from the Information and Library Science department aim to be friendly and create a memorable first impression. These include candies filled with sweet sentiments, and brochures with colorful designs containing useful information.

Stepping into university is a significant moment for every new student. For the faculty and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, welcoming a new generation, a new generation of students, is always a sacred and important time. What the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities wants to express is its appreciation for that moment and its commitment to creating the best possible first impression for the new students.
