On August 26, 2015, Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh, Vice Rector of the University, visited and worked with the management boards of three historical sites: Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, and the National Museum of History – where the student volunteer model for promoting cultural and historical values ​​of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities had been stationed for many months.

Also participating in the visit and working session with the management boards were Comrade Tran Bach Hieu - Secretary of the Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; Comrade Nguyen Thi Mai Lan - President of the Student Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; and other members of the executive committee of the student union and student association of the University.

Temple of Literature - National University Complex

The university delegation visited the student volunteer team at the Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam historical site for the first time. Since July 2015, the university's student volunteer group has been permanently stationed there to support the site's management in promoting the cultural and historical values ​​to tourists.

Sharing her thoughts with the university delegation, Ms. Nguyen Thi Luan, Deputy Director of the Management Board of Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam historical site, expressed her satisfaction with the dynamism, enthusiasm, and intelligence of the volunteer students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The Management Board has also made every effort to support the students, providing them with drinking water and a place to rest during lunchtime. They have also assigned staff to assist and support the students in their activities.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Luan, Deputy Director of the Management Board, is sharing information with the school's delegation.

“The time spent here is invaluable for each student; it's a beneficial environment for learning and experience. Here, students face real situations and circumstances, something that textbooks in the classroom can hardly provide,” Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh shared.

On behalf of the school's leadership, Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh expressed his hope that in the future, the management board of the historical site would continue to pay attention to and create favorable conditions for the school's students to collaborate and volunteer there.

Thang Long Imperial Citadel historical site

The Thang Long Imperial Citadel volunteer team from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has approximately 15 members and has been active since July 1st. Given the area's popularity as a tourist destination for many foreign visitors, a fundamental requirement for volunteers is proficiency in foreign languages. The team includes five members fluent in English, two in Chinese, and seven in Japanese.

Before commencing work, the Management Board of the historical site led the school's delegation to offer incense in remembrance of the 52 emperors at Kinh Thien Palace, visited the Politburo and Central Military Commission meeting rooms, and the exhibition area of ​​newly excavated artifacts...

During the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Cong Truong, Deputy Director of the Center for Management of Historical Sites, highly praised the skills of the students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities: "In the past period, the students have provided a lot of support to the center in welcoming and guiding individual tourists. Their guidance has been enthusiastic and highly responsible."

Comrade Nguyen Cong Truong delivered his remarks at the working session with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Offering further suggestions for their continued development in the future, Comrade Nguyen Cong Truong shared, "You should supplement your knowledge of history to gain more expertise in guiding tourists. At the same time, you should also cultivate resilience and maintain strict discipline, especially during challenging weather conditions."

National History Museum historical site

“The National History Museum is a very important national monument. In many countries, it is considered the first place foreign tourists visit. The National History Museum has received and supported the volunteer students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in a truly valuable way. This will be a model of volunteer activity with profound meaning, connecting the university with reality, and connecting knowledge with professional expertise,” Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh shared, during his visit and working session with the volunteer students and the management board of the historical site.

Sharing his thoughts on establishing a long-term collaborative relationship between the University and the Heritage Management Board, Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh expressed his hope that "In the future, the Management Board can strengthen cooperation with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in various activities such as research programs on maritime sovereignty and socio-economic development; combining seminars with visits for international scholars...". It is known that Dr. Nguyen Van Cuong, Director of the National History Museum, is also a former student of the University. This further facilitates deeper and broader cooperation.

The student volunteer team from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has been working at the National Historical Museum since July 1st. The team consists of approximately 13 members. Their main tasks include providing free guided tours for visitors at the museum, answering questions, and advising on tourist attractions. Over the past two months, the team has guided nearly 200 visitors, both domestic and international.
