On August 26, 2015, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh, Vice Rector of the University visited and worked with the three management boards of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, and the National History Museum - where the student volunteer model of promoting cultural history of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has been stationed for many months.

Temple of Literature - Imperial Academy relic site

The School delegation visited the student team at the Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam relic site for the first time. Since July 2015, the School’s volunteer student group has been present here to support the management board of the relic site in propagating and promoting cultural and historical values ​​to tourists.

Sharing with the delegation of the School, comrade Nguyen Thi Luan, Deputy Director of the Management Board of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam relic, was very pleased with the dynamism, enthusiasm and intelligence of the volunteer students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The Management Board also tried to support the students in the possible conditions such as drinking water, rooms for resting at noon. Assigned staff to support and help the students in their activities.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Luan, Deputy Director of the Management Board, is sharing information with the school's delegation.

“The time spent here is precious for each student, this is a beneficial environment for students' learning and experience. Here, you have to face real situations, real circumstances, which are difficult to provide from textbooks in the classroom”, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh shared.

Thang Long Imperial Citadel historical site

The Thang Long Imperial Citadel Volunteer Team of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has about 15 members, operating since July 1st. As it is a place with many foreign tourists, a basic requirement for volunteers here is proficiency in foreign languages. The team has members who are fluent in English (5 members), Chinese (2 members) and Japanese (7 members).

Before starting work, the Management Board of the relic site led the school delegation to offer incense in memory of the 52 kings at Kinh Thien Palace, visit the meeting room of the Politburo and the Central Military Commission, the exhibition area of ​​newly excavated artifacts...

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Cong Truong, Deputy Director of the Center for Monument Management, highly appreciated the skills of the students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities: "In the past time, you have supported the center a lot in welcoming and guiding individual tourists. The guides are enthusiastic and responsible."

Comrade Nguyen Cong Truong spoke at the working session with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Offering further suggestions for their continued development in the future, Comrade Nguyen Cong Truong shared, "You should supplement your knowledge of history to gain more expertise in guiding tourists. At the same time, you should also cultivate resilience and maintain strict discipline, especially during challenging weather conditions."

National History Museum historical site

“The National History Museum is a very important relic of the country. In many countries, this is considered the first place that foreign tourists set foot. The National History Museum has received and supported volunteer students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, which is very valuable. This will be a meaningful volunteer model, connecting the school with reality, connecting knowledge with professional expertise,” Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh shared when visiting and working with volunteer students and the relic site management board.

Sharing his thoughts on establishing a long-term collaborative relationship between the University and the Heritage Management Board, Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh expressed his hope that "In the future, the Management Board can strengthen cooperation with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in various activities such as research programs on maritime sovereignty and socio-economic development; combining seminars with visits for international scholars...". It is known that Dr. Nguyen Van Cuong, Director of the National History Museum, is also a former student of the University. This further facilitates deeper and broader cooperation.

The volunteer student team from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has been working at the National Museum of History since July 1st. The number of members is about 13 comrades. The main job of the team is to guide visitors to the museum for free; answer questions and advise visitors on tourist attractions. After about 2 months of working here, the team has guided nearly 200 domestic and foreign visitors.
