The field of information science is like destiny.

Thùy shared that her connection with Information Science began in her first semester of her first year of university. At that time, the Head of Department, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Thi Quy (now the former Head of the Department of Library and Information Science), used her essay on the topic "Why did I choose this major?" as an example to analyze in class. Afterwards, she discussed and shared information about the major, the work, and future career prospects not only with Thùy but also with all the first-year students in the class.

"From a small assignment, but the story she shared about the field of study was so relatable and down-to-earth that it gave Thuy and her classmates their first and deepest feelings about this field," Thuy said.

With an unimpressive entrance score compared to other students in the class, and a somewhat awkward first year of study without any outstanding achievements, the students were nevertheless transformed by the care and guidance of their professors, especially Professor Tran Duc Hoa, into dedicated efforts throughout their remaining time at university.

“After getting a perfect score of 10 in basic computer science, Professor Tran Duc Hoa invited and suggested that Thuy participate in the ‘basic computer science training for new students’ activity. This was Thuy’s first activity in the new university environment and also an activity that further ignited her passion for information technology,” Thuy said.

The activities not only helped Thuy consolidate the knowledge she gained in university lectures and share her knowledge with other students, but also gave her a deeper understanding of her major. Through these activities with the faculty members, her love and connection with the field of study grew stronger. In all activities, the faculty members were always dedicated to helping and guiding her, and the Information and Library Science department became like a second home on Thuy's university journey.

Let fate become the driving force behind your efforts, changes, and growth.

"The four years I spent studying and living under the roof of the Library and Information Science department may not have been long, but it was the most beautiful time of my youth," Thuy said.

Throughout her four years of university, Thùy enthusiastically participated in various student union and association activities at her faculty and university, such as joining the book fair organizing committee, the "Up" volunteer project, and participating in computer skills competitions. These activities not only provided Thùy with soft skills for university life and opportunities for personal growth and change, but also marked memorable moments of her youth.

By the final year of university, having to dedicate more time to completing my studies and reducing my involvement in student activities, that feeling was very disheartening.

"Staying up all night studying while also organizing activities has become part of my routine at university," Thuy shared.

The constant effort to balance student activities and academics is Thuy's motivation and goal. In her studies, Thuy always puts in her best effort, is serious about her learning, and focuses on absorbing knowledge from the beginning to reduce pressure during exam preparation. Furthermore, she actively participates in discussions to earn high scores in various subject areas. This has helped Thuy achieve excellent and outstanding grades throughout her four years of university. Thuy has received numerous certificates of merit and scholarships from the university, such as the Posco scholarship (approximately $500), the Choongsoo scholarship (approximately $250) for two consecutive years, a regular scholarship throughout her four years of study, a certificate of merit from the Hanoi Youth Union, a certificate of merit from the Vietnam National University, Hanoi Youth Union, and a certificate of merit from the university's Rector...

“If students at the university strive to maintain excellent academic performance and actively participate in student union activities, they can receive a significant amount of financial support each year from regular scholarships, scholarships from foreign funding sources, and certificates of merit. This amount is substantial and greatly assists students in their living expenses, daily life, and studies,” Thuy said.

Looking back on her journey from "fate" to her second home, the Department of Information and Library Science, Thuy shared, "Every field of study has its own unique appeal. To truly love, live, and grow in a profession, each of us must experience it, live and work with it to truly understand it. Always proactively seek and cultivate your own passion." The Information Science department at the Faculty of Information and Library Science has very approachable and dedicated teachers; career opportunities are also very broad. After completing her studies, Thuy already has her own plans and career goals.
