Last night, September 21, 2016, the 48-hour traditional Vietnamese opera project held a gala night with the theme "I Opera Home to My Homeland," bringing the art of traditional Vietnamese opera to students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The program was co-organized by the Faculty of Literature, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and the traditional Vietnamese opera project, under the patronage of the Hanoi Cultural Fund and the Vietnam Traditional Opera Theatre.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (in the middle), Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, delivered the opening speech for the program.

The traditional Vietnamese opera performance opened the gala night.

The hall was packed, and many students who arrived late had to stand to watch the show.

The program also included a Q&A session with the artists who guided the young people throughout the 15 sessions of the 48-hour traditional Vietnamese opera project.

Artist Vu Khanh Ngan (in brown shirt, far left), from the Vietnam Cheo Theatre, is instructing students on how to perform the role of Thi Kinh.

Artist Nguyen Tuan Kha (in red shirt) is instructing the male students on how to play the role of Mr. Ma.

The male students also had the opportunity to try their hand at playing the role of Thien Si.

Following the interactive session, the audience was treated to an excerpt from the performance "The Xam Couple".

The program concludes with an excerpt from a shamanic ritual.
