Through practical investigations, it was found that the students expressed a high level of prejudice against gays but expressed a lower level of prejudice against lesbians; It was also found out the differences in the levels of prejudice in each of component models, emotional responses and negative beliefs in the measurement sub-scales. However, the emotional response was the highest level of prejudice in comparison with the other two elements.
The results also revealed that prejudice against homosexuality is influenced by all the factors being examined. In particular, media and traditional values of gender roles had the strongest influence towards the bias against gay students.
11. Practical applicability, if any:
The research results of this thesis were one source of references for lecturers, students, and organizations to protect and promote the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities in Vietnam as well as other civic organizations in the study and evaluation of prejudice. This will assist in providing a scientific basis for promoting the legitimization of same-sex marriage in our country today.
12. Further research directions, if any:
Research on behavioral implicit biases against homosexuals or the relationship between parents and their gay children in the context of Vietnam should be conducted.
