Cooperation between VNU-USSH and PolyU: A new development in international research in the field of social work

On the side of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, China, there was the attendance of Prof. Eric Chui, Head of the Department of Applied Social Sciences; Prof. Ku Hok Bun - Director of China and Global Development Network.
On the side of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU had the attendance of Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the University, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Dao Thanh Truong - Vice Rector and leaders of training units and departments.
The signing ceremony was also witnessed by scholars, experts, and researchers from universities, research institutes, and social organizations in 22 countries such as China, Italy, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Israel, Laos, Japan, Singapore, Cambodia, United Kingdom, India, Albania, Uganda, Bangladeshi, Ethiopia, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Egypt, Zambia, Somalia, Korea, and Vietnam. At the Signing Ceremony, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU emphasized that, with the pioneering mission in training and researching social work in Vietnam, the University pays special attention to investment for the development of the field of social work. VNU-USSH always strengthens international cooperation and coordinates with a team of international experts in this field to strengthen the training of high-quality human resources for the social work industry, contributing to creating sustainable social development. Cooperation activities between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and Hong Kong Polytechnic University, China with a focus on cooperation on social work, marked a milestone of the social work’s development at VNU-USSH in particular and Vietnam in general.   Accordingly, there are many similarities between the two universities in potential areas of cooperation such as scientific research in the field of social work in Vietnam and ASEAN, the organization of international-scale seminars in this field. In particular, the two units will implement student exchange activities, open internships, and summer camps for students of the two universities. This will be an opportunity for students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, to exchange and learn with international students and students of Hong Kong Polytechnic University to learn about Vietnamese culture as well as study at VNU-USSH.
After the signing ceremony, the Faculty of Sociology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU collaborated with partner units to organize an international seminar with the theme "Make a Difference – Social Work without Barriers: In Response to Sustainable Development and Public Emergency”. The seminar attracted 150 Vietnamese scholars to attend and more than 90 scholars from 22 countries around the world.
