3.2. Conclusion
- Japan's policy towards ASEAN during the period 2001-2016 was developed based on several key tenets of Realism, Liberalism, and the influence of a three-tiered approach in policy analysis.
- Japan's policy towards ASEAN during this period was implemented across four areas: political-diplomatic, economic, security-defense, and socio-cultural. Although some limitations were still evident, this policy had initially achieved promising results.
- This policy has had a significant impact on the Southeast Asian region, ASEAN, and Vietnam, both positively and negatively. The achievements of cooperation between Japan and ASEAN over the past 45 years, along with a favorable international context, provide a basis for Japan's policy towards ASEAN to be well-received by these countries in the future.

3.2. Conclusions
- Japan's policies towards the ASEAN in the period of 2001-2016 is developed based on some key points of Realism, Liberalism and the influence of the 3-level approach in policy analysis.
- Japan's policies towards the ASEAN during this period were implemented in four areas: politics - diplomacy, economy, security - defense and culture - society. Although there are some limitations, this policy has initially achieved positive achievements.
- This policy has created great impacts on Southeast Asia, ASEAN and Vietnam on both positive and negative aspects. The achievements of cooperation over the past 45 years between Japan and ASEAN, together with a favorable international context are the basis for Japan's policies towards the ASEAN to be welcomed by these countries in the future.
