To conduct this study, the author deployed the following main methods: Available document research method, qualitative expert interview method, historical-logical method, statistical method, analysis and synthesis comparison, international relations research method.
3. Main results and conclusions
3.1. Main results
- Collect statistics on the research situation of the Russian Federation's policy towards ASEAN in the period from 2000 to 2014 from domestic and foreign authors;
- Provide theoretical and practical basis for the Russian Federation's policy towards ASEAN;
- Mention and analyze the content of the Russian Federation's policies towards ASEAN during the research period;
- Provide assessments of policies and policy implementation, what has been done and what has not been done, as well as the causes of those limitations;
- Provide recommendations to help promote the effectiveness of Russia's foreign policies applicable to the ASEAN Association in general and Vietnam in particular, as well as consolidate and strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Vietnam.
3.2. Conclusion
- Russia has a clear strategy and ambitions in this region, which is reflected in its Eastward policy as well as the goals Russia sets in its foreign policy;
- Russia's policies towards the Asia-Pacific region, including ASEAN, have not achieved the expected results during implementation;
- Russia's foreign policy towards ASEAN mainly develops in the political field, while the economic field develops slowly;
- Russia's foreign policy towards ASEAN is still influenced by many external factors, especially the US and China;
- In response to Russia's foreign policy moves towards the Asia-Pacific region in general and ASEAN in particular, ASEAN has not been really enthusiastic;
- Russia considers Vietnam a bridge in the relationship between Russia and ASEAN because Vietnam has a long-standing traditional relationship with Russia and is one of the active and influential members in ASEAN.

-Russia has a great ambition in ASEAN which is expressed through its East Policy in general and strong points of policy in details.
- The implementation of this policy in Asia Pacific including ASEAN has not reached its expectations.
- There are great achievements in the field of political cooperation, whereas the field of economic cooperations still has some limitations.
- Russia's policy in this region suffers a lot of pressure from the United States and China.
- ASEAN seems to be not creative in cooperation with Russia.
- Vietnam is considered a key factor in the cooperation between Russia and ASEAN
