10. Summary of new results of the thesis:
The thesis approaches the issue of social multilingualism based on the theory of sociolinguistics, using a combination of field linguistics and sociolinguistics to study the current state of multilingualism in Muong Cha. The thesis has made the following new contributions:
- Describe and analyze the language situation in Muong Cha such as pointing out the general features of socio-economic characteristics, characteristics of population distribution as well as the life of ethnic minorities in Muong Cha, characteristics of ethnic minority languages used in Muong Cha. Build a map of language distribution in Muong Cha today.
- Analyze the characteristics of the multilingual community in Muong Cha (characteristics of language use of ethnic minorities in different communication contexts, attitudes and language abilities of ethnic minorities towards the language used) through case studies from both qualitative and quantitative perspectives.
- Propose some recommendations for the issue of preserving linguistic diversity for Muong Cha in particular and Dien Bien in general.

- The research results contribute to the study of social multilingualism in ethnic minority areas in the current context under the influence of socio-economic factors.
- The research results contribute a basis for building language policies in Dien Bien in particular and in ethnic minority areas across the country in general.

10. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:
The thesis approaches social multilingualism on the basis of sociolinguistics theory, using combined methods of linguistic fieldwork and methods of sociolinguistics to study the state of multilingualism in Muong Cha at the present. The thesis has made new contributions as follows:
- Describe and analyze the language situation in Muong Cha: point out the outline of the characteristics of the economy and society, the characteristics of the population distribution as well as the lives of ethnic areas in Muong Cha, the characteristics of the minority languages used in Muong Cha. Construct the language distribution map in Muong Cha at the present.
- Analyze the characteristics of the multilingual community in Muong Cha (the characteristics of language use of ethnic regions in the different domains, language ability and language attitude of ethnic minority people towards the used languages) through the case studies in both qualitative and quantitative perspectives.
- Recommend a few recommendations for the conservation of the linguistic diversity in Muong Cha in particular and Dien Bien in general.

- The findings contribute to the study of social multilingualism in ethnic minority regions at present under the impact of social and economic factors.
- The study results contribute the basis for language policy construction in Dien Bien in particular and in the minority regions in our country in general.
