10. Summary of new results of the thesis:

The thesis is the first research work on the equivalent translation of Vietnamese forensic science terms into English. The thesis clearly introduced the concept of forensic science terms, proposed identification criteria and collected 1456 forensic science terms in Vietnamese. The thesis conducted a survey of 1456 Vietnamese forensic science terms in terms of formation methods, origins, structural characteristics, and identification characteristics. The thesis also conducted a survey of the techniques for equivalent translation of Vietnamese forensic science terms into English and the translation equivalents of Vietnamese forensic science terms into English. Based on the survey results, the thesis has made a number of proposals on the selection, use, standardization of Vietnamese forensic science terms and the method of translating Vietnamese forensic science terms into English.

11. Practical application:

- The research results of the thesis will be documents serving the teaching and learning of specialized English at People's Police schools.

- The thesis is also a useful document for compiling a Vietnamese - English dictionary of criminal science terms in the future.

The thesis is the first study of equivalence translations of Vietnamese - English criminal science terms. The thesis has introduced clearly the concept of criminal science terms, proposed identification criteria and gathered 1456 Vietnamese criminal science terms. The thesis has conducted a survey of 1456 Vietnamese criminal science terms on aspects of formation methods, the origins, structural characteristics, denominational characteristics. The thesis has also conducted surveys of translation equivalences of criminal science terms from Vietnamese to English and equivalence translation procedures of these terms in English. Based on the survey results, the thesis has made some suggestions on choosing, using, standardizing the Vietnamese criminal science terms and the way to translate them into English.

- The research results of the thesis will be the document for teaching and learning English for special purposes (ESP) at schools of Ministry of Public Security.

- The thesis is also the useful material for proceeding to the compilation of a Vietnamese - English dictionary of criminal science terms in the future.
