10. Summary of the thesis results
This thesis studies how to provide psychological support for a case of anxiety-depression in young adults.
Research has found that cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness have a positive impact, helping to improve symptoms of depression and anxiety. After the intervention, clients experienced a reduction in distressing symptoms (improved sleep, reduced negative thoughts, increased positive activity, etc.). In addition, clients began to improve their relationships with colleagues and students.
Perception, emotion, and behavior are three closely related factors; changing one factor will affect the others. Perception, emotion, and behavior directly influence each individual's life and the quality of their social relationships. To improve a client's problem, a comprehensive approach involving all three factors is necessary.
Depression and anxiety often go hand in hand; there are periods when anxiety symptoms are more prominent, but also periods when depression symptoms are more dominant. Addressing depression symptoms can help improve anxiety symptoms, and vice versa.
11. Practical applications
Based on the results obtained through theoretical and practical research, this thesis has contributed to demonstrating the effectiveness of psychological support methods in general, and cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness therapy in particular, for individuals with depression and anxiety. Through this, psychological methods can be applied in the treatment process for people with psychological difficulties, helping them release emotions and resolve the problems they are facing.
