Attending the training session were Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Rector of the University), Dr. Ngo Thi Kieu Oanh (Chairperson of the University's Trade Union), and nearly 50 delegates from 15 trade unions of affiliated units, participating both in person and online via Zoom.
Speaking at the training session, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University, acknowledged and highly appreciated the idea of organizing the training session for staff of the University's Trade Union, the Professional Board, and the Faculty of Information and Library Science. Rector Hoang Anh Tuan affirmed that this is a meaningful, practical, and important activity in research and teaching, contributing to improving the professional capacity of faculty and staff. The University's Board of Directors believes that the University's Trade Union Executive Committee, in addition to its activities to connect staff, will have more in-depth activities in the future, closely linked to the professional work of faculty and staff. The University will always support and create favorable conditions for the professional activities of the Trade Union and will invest strategically to promote scientific research by staff in the future.
Citing sources and compiling a bibliography are mandatory parts of a scientific research project. However, managing and citing sources effectively, especially in the context of the vast amount of resources/knowledge available in today's digital age, is a challenge that many union members at the university are still grappling with.
Mendeley is a software, or more accurately, a utility program, for organizing, managing, and citing references while writing scientific papers or dissertations and theses in an "intelligent, scientific, accurate, and time-saving" manner, helping professionals use Mendeley software effectively in their work.
In addition to discussing the advantages of Mendeley software, a special highlight of the training session, shared by Mr. Tran Duc Hoa, was the hands-on practice with the software on the equipment and the resolution of participants' questions regarding managing reference citations. Participants engaged in lively discussions and shared experiences in organizing and using reference materials. The training session helped participants grasp the skills needed to operate and use Mendeley software effectively in research and teaching.
