September school meeting: welcoming the new school year 2024-2025

Based on the content of the August summary report and September task plan of the representative of the Administration - General Department, the delegates attending the Conference expressed their opinions, had lively and open exchanges, and shared a number of solutions to effectively implement key tasks: training, postgraduate recruitment, student care, quality assessment plan, scientific research and international cooperation.
Representative of the Training Department, MSc. Pham Van Hue (Deputy Head of Department) shared: The 2024 regular university enrollment has met the target, for the first time the School has enrolled students to register for the 12+ Program; the number of students registering for the 2nd major is the highest ever. To accompany students, especially K69 students who have just entered the school, every month the Training Department organizes an online dialogue channel to listen, share, and directly answer students' concerns and questions, and share official information from the School to them. Training units need to communicate widely so that all students know and participate effectively. Regarding the care and support of students in the new school year, Dr. Dao Minh Quan (Director of the Center for Communications and Information Technology) reminded training units to deploy for students to install the student management and support application on the mobile platform (OneVNU App). This will be an effective application for students to update all the latest announcements and news of the School and VNU. In which, students can track their class schedules, exam schedules, academic results, search for information on boarding and off-boarding, student handbook, study locations, etc. Dr. Phan Van Kien (Director of the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training): recommended that the Administration and General Department speed up the repair of offices in building C and building H.
According to information from the Department of Politics and Student Affairs, the opening ceremony of the new school year 2024-2025 is expected to take place on September 15. After the main ceremony, there will be competitions and a gala night for students organized by the Youth Union and Student Association. Therefore, it is recommended that heads of units widely inform and create conditions to support, encourage and motivate staff, lecturers and students to participate in large numbers. Joining in the jubilant atmosphere welcoming the new school year, Dr. Pham Hoang Hung (Head of Cooperation and Development Department) shared information about the plan to welcome a number of foreign student groups to study at the school and proposed to organize an Opening Ceremony specifically for international students in late September or early October. Fully agreeing with the initiative from the Department of Training and Development, Dr. Pham Hoang Giang (Head of the Department of Philosophy) shared more: promoting the effective cooperative relationship between the University and faculties with foreign partners, in the coming time there will be many international student delegations coming to study and exchange at the University for short-term courses. Therefore, the functional departments and faculties coordinate smoothly and closely, especially in arranging clean, safe and convenient accommodation for international students. Regarding the plan for quality assessment of training programs, Dr. Pham Huy Cuong (Director of the Center for Training Quality Assurance) noted that units should focus on completing the assessment of training programs on schedule in 2024, especially the first 3 training programs of the Master's level. Training programs that will finish the first cycle in 2025 need to have a plan to soon complete the supporting documents to be ready for the second cycle assessment. The 2024-2025 school year is also the year of the School's important events: the 80th anniversary of its tradition and the 30th anniversary of its establishment. According to the representative of the Department of Scientific Research Management, in September, the School will officially issue documents to establish strong school-level research groups; plan to publish major collections on the occasion of the anniversary; organize a scientific conference to summarize 30 years of training and research in Social Sciences and Humanities. Speaking at the Conference, Vice Principal Dang Thi Thu Huong emphasized: University admissions achieved very good results: 100% of the set targets were completed, the admission week was organized scientifically, warmly and extremely excitingly, strongly spreading the professional, thoughtful and humane image of the School to a large number of students, parents and the whole society. To achieve that success, the School's Board of Directors acknowledged and highly appreciated the outstanding efforts and close and effective participation of the Board of Directors, each staff member and lecturer of all functional departments and training units in the School.
Vice Principal Dang Thi Thu Huong also noted: The 2024-2025 school year is also the first year that the school enrolls a large number of students in the second major in all majors. Therefore, the organization of training for students needs to pay attention to the best care and companionship for them. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh (Vice Principal): During the summer, the School urgently implemented the repair and upgrade of facilities and equipment, rearranged the working and teaching and learning spaces of lecturers and students in the direction of increasing the space of lecture halls, self-study areas for students, professional activity rooms for lecturers, etc. Basically, the items were completed in time before the Opening Ceremony, welcoming the new school year.
In the coming time, the School will continue to implement renovation projects and some works to celebrate the important event of the 80th anniversary of the School's tradition: renovating the facade of building H, building C,... Speaking at the Conference, Principal Hoang Anh Tuan concluded:
- Recommend that heads of units thoroughly convey to each cadre and lecturer the spirit of urgency to enter the new school year; training and administrative activities are organized in an orderly manner right from the beginning of the school year.
- Complete the plan to organize the Opening Ceremony, welcoming new students expected to be held in mid-September, in which the content needs to focus on activities aimed at students, the organization method must be solemn, warm, economical but also youthful, vibrant, new, bringing excitement to lecturers, students, especially new students of K69.
- Focus on attracting highly qualified staff to work at the school.
- Expand rewards for international publications, while honoring and rewarding book chapters and articles that may not be listed in the ISO/Scopus catalog but are of high value, aiming for top-notch domestic science and technology products.
- Continue to implement the strategy: Increase investment in scientific research, which is a direct investment in staff, encourage and create conditions for lecturers to achieve academic titles and degrees.
- Strengthen innovation in thinking, strategy and action in all activities: training, scientific research, care and support for learners, staff organization, finance, administrative management, communication, etc. Innovate to stabilize, develop and truly make a breakthrough in the 2024-2025 school year.
- Continue to renovate facilities: according to the motto of modernity, friendliness, application of information technology achievements, optimization of area and usage functions on the basis of strict compliance with processes and procedures according to state regulations.
