Attending the Congress were: General Be Xuan Truong, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Vietnam Veterans Association; Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee; Lieutenant General Nguyen Quoc Duyet, Member of the Standing Committee of the Hanoi City Party Committee and Commander of the Hanoi Capital Command; and several high-ranking generals of the Vietnam People's Army and Heroes of the Armed Forces. Also present were delegates including Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, veterans who are outstanding citizens of Hanoi during the 2019-2024 period, and 197 delegates representing exemplary veterans from 53 grassroots veterans units of the city.
In his opening speech, Major General Le Nhu Duc, Chairman of the Hanoi City Veterans Association, stated: Over the past five years, the Hanoi City Veterans Association has always prioritized leading and directing the effective implementation of emulation and reward work and the "Exemplary Veteran" emulation movement, linking it with patriotic emulation movements and campaigns of the Central and local governments. This has become a widespread revolutionary action movement from the city level to the grassroots; creating great motivation and encouraging cadres and members to strive in emulation, overcome difficulties, and successfully complete all assigned tasks. The Hanoi City Veterans Association remains strong and comprehensive, worthy of the trust of the Party Committee, government, and people of Hanoi.
As one of the veteran units representing the 487th Bloc, during the period 2019-2024, the Veterans Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, has strived to organize and encourage its members to participate in activities within the "Exemplary Veterans" emulation movement, linked to professional activities in training and scientific research. In addition, the Association has actively participated in other activities such as organizing traditional education activities for students; participating in gratitude and remembrance activities; organizing and encouraging members to contribute to the Fund to help southern provinces combat Covid-19, the Fund to "Eliminate dilapidated houses for veteran members," the Fund to "Contribute stones to build Trường Sa," the Fund to "Build a memorial commemorating the event of Hanoi University's staff and students joining the military to defend the Fatherland," etc. This has contributed to the overall achievements of the City's Veterans Association.
With the above achievements, the Veterans Association of the University was commended by the Hanoi City Veterans Emulation Congress for the period 2019-2024. At this Congress, the Veterans Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was awarded Certificates of Merit by the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association and the Executive Committee of the Hanoi City Veterans Association for the collective and one individual for "Outstanding achievements in the patriotic emulation movement during the period 2019-2024".
