Attending and directing the Opening Ceremony, on the side of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, there were Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Principal of the University, Commander of the School's Military Command), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Xuan Thach (Party Committee Secretary, Political Commissar), MSc. Nguyen Van Thuy (Head of the General Administration Department, Deputy Commander); on the side of the University of Natural Sciences, there was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Hoang Linh (Party Committee Secretary, Principal, Commander). Along with that were nearly 60 soldiers of the two On-site Self-Defense Platoons of the two schools.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan highly appreciated the organization and enthusiastic participation of the militia forces of the two schools. Although it took place late due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, this militia and self-defense training session was still organized with full conditions and was no less important. Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan expressed his hope and expectation that the militia and self-defense comrades would well implement the requirements of the training course, while still ensuring health, epidemic prevention safety and completing their professional tasks well.

Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hoang Linh delivered the opening speech.
On behalf of the University of Science, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hoang Linh shared that 50 years ago, there was a military enlistment with the participation of 300 cadres and students of Hanoi University of Science, witnessed by former Principal Nguyen Nhu Kon Tum. In the near future, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Science will build a memorial for this military enlistment event at the University of Science. Therefore, the work of training militia and self-defense forces to serve the defense of the Fatherland is of great significance. For the young cadres of the militia and self-defense forces of the two schools, comrade Vu Hoang Linh expressed his belief that the soldiers will complete the 2021 training course well to continue the tradition of building and defending the Fatherland of previous generations.

After the speeches of Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Hoang Linh, MSc. Nguyen Van Thuy, on behalf of the Self-Defense Platoon, disseminated to the soldiers of the Self-Defense Platoon the training program and plan for 2021. According to the plan approved by the Thanh Xuan District Military Command, this Self-Defense training session will take place from October 25 to November 2, 2021 with two contents: Politics and military. In terms of politics, the two platoons of the militia and self-defense force will learn the following contents: some basic contents of the law on military service, militia and self-defense; the situation of national defense and security and protection of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; combining the economy with strengthening national defense and security in building and protecting the Fatherland. In terms of military, the Self-Defense Platoon will train in techniques and tactics such as basic postures and movements in combat; grenade throwing techniques, AK and CKC shooting practice; general knowledge about some types of explosives, some explosive devices; some types of enemy mines, how to overcome them... During the training period, soldiers are required to wear full uniforms, be present on time, ensure safety, and complete the training session well.
