Opening Ceremony of the 2021 Local Self-Defense Platoon Training

On the morning of October 25, 2021, the Military Command of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Natural Sciences organized the "Opening Ceremony of the 2021 Local Self-Defense Platoon Training" at Building E, University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Attending and directing the Opening Ceremony, on behalf of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities were Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Rector, Commander of the University's Military Command), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Xuan Thach (Party Secretary, Political Commissar), and Mr. Nguyen Van Thuy (Head of the Administrative and General Affairs Department, Deputy Commander); on behalf of the University of Natural Sciences was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Hoang Linh (Party Secretary, Rector, Commander). Also present were nearly 60 soldiers from the two local self-defense platoons of the two universities.

In his opening remarks, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan highly praised the organization and enthusiastic participation of the self-defense forces from both universities. Despite the delay due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this militia training course was organized with full and equally important conditions. Professor Hoang Anh Tuan expressed his hope that the militia members would successfully implement the training requirements, while maintaining their health, ensuring safety against the pandemic, and fulfilling their professional duties effectively.

On behalf of the University of Science, Associate Professor Vu Hoang Linh shared that 50 years ago, a military enlistment took place with the participation of 300 faculty and students from various courses at Hanoi University, witnessed by former Rector Nguy Nhu Kon Tum. Soon, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Science will be constructing a memorial monument for this enlistment event in the University of Science's courtyard. Therefore, the training of militia and self-defense forces to serve in national defense is of great significance. To the young officers of the militia and self-defense teams from both universities, Professor Vu Hoang Linh expressed his belief that the soldiers will successfully complete their 2021 training course to continue the tradition of building and defending the nation of previous generations.

Following the directives from Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Hoang Linh, Mr. Nguyen Van Thuy, on behalf of the Self-Defense Platoon, briefed the Self-Defense Platoon members on the 2021 training program and plan. According to the plan approved by the Thanh Xuan District Military Command, this Self-Defense training session will take place from October 25th to November 2nd, 2021, with two main components: political and military. Regarding politics, the two self-defense militia platoons will learn about: some basic legal provisions on military service and self-defense militia; the national defense and security situation and the protection of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; and the integration of economic development with strengthening national defense and security in building and protecting the Fatherland. Regarding military skills, the Self-Defense Platoon will train in tactics and techniques such as basic combat postures and movements; grenade throwing techniques; and AK and CKC rifle shooting practice. The training included general knowledge about various types of explosives, explosive devices, enemy mines, and how to neutralize them. During training, soldiers were required to wear full uniforms, be present on time, ensure safety, and successfully complete the training session.
