Mid-term review of the activities of the XXX Trade Union: Sharing, responsibility, and greater efficiency in all aspects of activities

Attending the Conference were representatives of VNU Trade Union: Comrade Nguyen Thi Thao (Vice President of the Trade Union - Standing Committee of VNU Trade Union), Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) and all union members and representatives of 21 departmental unions.

The 30th term of the Executive Committee of the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities began in March 2017. During this term, with the spirit of Innovation, Democracy, Solidarity and Responsibility, the University Trade Union has determined its operational goals as: “Innovating the content and methods of operation of the Trade Union of the Department, representing and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of teachers and workers; widely organizing patriotic emulation movements and industry campaigns; propagating and mobilizing and participating in innovation in management work; training and fostering Trade Union officials, building the University Trade Union increasingly strong, contributing to the fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education, making the University of Social Sciences and Humanities soon become a research university”. The proposed direction of activities: "Focus resources and create strong changes in the quality and efficiency of Trade Union activities; perform well the task of representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of Trade Union members to consolidate and strengthen close ties with Trade Union members and Trade Union organizations, contributing to building a strong Trade Union organization in a socialist-oriented market economy and international integration".

The conference approved the preliminary report on the implementation of the Resolution of the XXXth Congress of the School Trade Union (term 2017-2022) presented by the President of the Trade Union - Dr. Ngo Thi Kieu Oanh; the review report of the School Trade Union Executive Committee presented by comrade Nguyen Van Thuy - Vice President of the School Trade Union. In the past half term, the School Trade Union has had outstanding achievements in all aspects of activities: Innovating and improving the quality and effectiveness of political and ideological education and propaganda work, promoting emulation movements, strengthening solidarity, mobilizing all resources to build and develop the School; taking care of the lives, representing and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of the staff, teachers and workers; participate in management, build harmonious and stable labor relations, encourage union members to actively participate in training, scientific research, foster and improve professional qualifications, contributing to quickly building the School into a research university... More importantly, it is to create the culture of a union organization, a union collective that is united, unanimous, always innovative, creative, effectively organizes large-scale activities, and gathers many union officials to participate.

Delegates at the Conference affirmed that in the past half term, the School Union has always made efforts in many activities, connecting union members in common activities. Comrade Nguyen Thi Kim Dung (Faculty of Library Information) said that the School Union is a bloc of great collective strength, which is demonstrated through activities and especially clearly demonstrated during the recent Covid 19 outbreak: the teaching activities of lecturers have shifted from direct teaching to online teaching using software supported by partners. The solidarity among union members is demonstrated through sharing difficulties and experiences, to achieve the highest efficiency in teaching.

Comrade Hoang Van Thang (Faculty of Philosophy) shared that the cultural and sports activities of the School Union have had many new and outstanding features with many rich and diverse activities such as the contest "Humanity Colors", "Humanity Connection" ... creating a new and unique atmosphere in the spiritual activities of union members. Not only caring for its union members, the School Union also pays great attention to and organizes activities for children of staff on June 1, Mid-Autumn Festival...

Union members also shared their experiences in implementing activities at the departmental unions. According to comrade Pham Minh Thuy (Faculty of Management Science), the Faculty has been effectively maintaining social and charitable activities. In 2 consecutive years 2018-2019, the Faculty organized 2 charity trips to Lao Cai and Bac Kan to visit, encourage and give gifts to families in difficult circumstances in the above 2 localities. These are small contributions to enhance the image of the Union and sharing with the community.

The conference also approved the personnel structure for the School Union. The conference voted 100% in agreement, maintaining the current Executive Committee and not adding new personnel (the Union Executive Committee, from 15 members when established, currently has 13 members).

Attending the Conference, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Party Committee member, Vice Principal of the School expressed his agreement and appreciation for the reports in the Conference and the decision to reorganize the Executive Committee of the Trade Union. The School acknowledged that the preliminary conference was held in a spirit of frankness, objectivity and democracy. He also emphasized that the word "Humanity" speaks for itself in the spirit of the Trade Union's activities. The School hopes that in the coming years, the School's Trade Union will operate more and more effectively, contributing to the overall success of the School.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Thao (Vice President of VNU Trade Union) shared: Up to now, the University Trade Union can be completely proud of all the expectations that VNU Trade Union and the University's leaders have placed on us. Some of the remarkable and remarkable results in the past time of the University Trade Union Executive Committee, term XXX, are the Comprehensive Emulation Flag, the Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, which are the answers to the results of the activities of the University Trade Union. But above all, it is the creativity, the spirit of innovation, the collective will and solidarity of all the Trade Union members for the development of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. In the coming time, the University Trade Union needs to continue to promote and carry out many new tasks in response to the requirements of innovation in the education sector. On behalf of the VNU Trade Union, he sent his congratulations to the University Trade Union Executive Committee and all the Trade Union members who have made efforts and strived to achieve high results in the past time.

Humbly accepting the comments and recognition; at the same time expressing appreciation for the sharing, encouragement and suggestions of the School leaders, the higher-level Trade Union and the delegates attending the Conference; on behalf of the School Trade Union Executive Committee, comrade Ngo Thi Kieu Oanh said: The achievements of the School Trade Union in the first half of the term are highly appreciated, but the remaining half of the journey will be even more difficult because the Trade Union must strive to maintain and strive for higher achievements. Therefore, the School Trade Union needs to "share more, be more responsible for the work; care for each other and unite and stick together more; be more practical to improve the effectiveness of all activities".
