Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities: Steadfast on the path of innovation

From innovations in political and ideological education…

Recognizing this as a core and fundamental task, but one that requires creativity in its communication methods to avoid rigid and inflexible approaches, instead of organizing ineffective reporting sessions, the School's Trade Union Executive Committee has utilized new communication tools such as websites, social media (Facebook groups, Zalo), and integrated cultural and artistic activities to disseminate the message to all staff and employees.

A series of important documents, such as Conclusion No. 51-KL/TW of the Sixth Conference of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (11th term) on fundamental and comprehensive reform of Vietnam's education system; the Labor Code, the Trade Union Law, the Civil Servant Law, the Higher Education Law, the Trade Union Charter; directives and resolutions of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, programs and plans of the Vietnam Education Trade Union, and the Hanoi National University Trade Union, were disseminated and thoroughly understood by all employees in the university through various forms.

To innovate trade union activities in a more in-depth direction.

The school's labor union organizes professional seminars or discussions on "hot" topics such as: Seminars"Innovation and creativity in teaching and research,"Academic qualification standards for young lecturers","Trade unions and the role of enhancing English language proficiency for faculty members in teaching and research", chairing the seminar"Utilizing learning resources and applying technology in teaching and research.for over 100 officials and union members of Hanoi National University.;In collaboration with the cluster of trade unions from 5 universities, we organized a workshop."Trade unions and the process of university autonomy".

Union members throughout the university not only enthusiastically responded to and participated in various movements, but also demonstrated the motivation to achieve many scientific accomplishments. Over the past three years, faculty members of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities have led 9 state-level research projects, hundreds of research projects at various levels, published 54 ISI/Scopus indexed articles, 162 international articles, and thousands of articles in domestic scientific journals.

And initiatives in various aspects of trade union work.

Aiming to create a dynamic, creative, and friendly working environment, the School's Trade Union has launched a movement."Building a civilized and courteous workplace," "Sports Day,"programme"Humanistic Colors", "Connecting Humanity"organize the competition"Beautiful photos of female union members"This will create widespread impact and strong bonds among union members throughout the school. The competition"Beautiful photos of female union members"The competition attracted 330 female union members from the school, with 114 sets of photos taken with smartphones, garnering 21,000 likes, comments, and shares on social media, spreading its popularity to many other schools. This is also the only and unique competition in the entire Vietnamese education sector. Regarding the competition, journalist Trong Chinh – Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Photo News – Head of the judging panel, commented:"I was very surprised by the grace and beautiful appearance of many of the female teachers, which was quite different from the serious demeanor of the female PhDs and masters I see in the lecture halls every day.".

The University's Trade Union organized professional training for union officials in a new format that wasn't confined to the auditorium. Instead, it integrated activities involving the exchange of experience, theory, and practical examples, with specific demonstrations, increasing interaction among participants. Attendees not only grasped the latest professional skills and policies but also acquired the necessary skills to organize and implement union activities.

External relations and exchanges with trade unions of other universities within and outside Hanoi National University are also rich and diverse, including specialized seminars, joint charitable activities, sports, etc.

Halfway through the 2017-2020 term, the greatest achievement and milestone of the XXX term of the School's Trade Union Executive Committee is not only the Comprehensive Emulation Flag and Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and the Comprehensive Emulation Flag and Certificate of Merit from the Education Sector Trade Union, but more importantly, the creativity, the spirit of innovation, and the collective will for the development of the Humanities School.

The Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities won first prize in the 2018 Vietnam National University, Hanoi Trade Union Singing Contest.

Speaking about the direction for the second half of her term, Dr. Ngo Thi Kieu Oanh – President of the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – expressed her confidence: “In the coming time, the University's Trade Union is determined to continue strengthening solidarity, upholding a sense of responsibility; constantly innovating the content and form of activities, attracting a large number of union members to participate in beneficial and practical activities to build and develop the University; and resolutely striving to build a clean, strong, and excellent Trade Union, contributing to building the University in the era of comprehensive and synchronized reform and deep international integration.”
