University of Social Sciences and Humanities is ready for election day

On May 17, 2021, at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, a meeting took place between the Election Steering Committee and leaders of Institutes/Faculties/Departments on the final steps in preparation for the election of XV National Assembly Deputies and People's Council Deputies at all levels for the 2021-2026 term on May 23.
At the meeting, the audience listened to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu (Head of Student Affairs and Training Department),Deputy Head of the Election Steering Committee) reported on the preparation for the election. Basically, determining that the election of the XV National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term is an important political event for the whole country, the School has taken timely and quick steps to organize it.

The contents performed are:
Firstly, the School has made a list of members of the School's Election Team and submitted it to the People's Committee of Thanh Xuan Trung Ward, Thanh Xuan District to decide to establish Election Team 14 of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, consisting of 21 members.
Second, the School has directed units to register their staff and students to vote at the School. The units have actively coordinated and so far the number of voters at the School is 752 people. Among the School's voters, only one staff member participated in the election, the rest are students.
Third, after finalizing the list, the School sent it to the Ward People's Committee to stamp and post the list within 30 days before the election.
Fourth, based on the list after editing the information, the School sends it back to the Ward People's Committee for final approval and to receive the voter card. The School records all the information on the voter card, sends it back to the Ward People's Committee for stamping and then sends it to the units to send to voters before voting.
Fifth, the organization of the election day has been carefully prepared by the School:
- The school has fully participated in meetings with the District People's Committee, Ward People's Committee, and VNU to thoroughly grasp the election work. Welcoming inspection delegations from competent authorities to best complete the election work.
- In addition to the Decision on the list of Election Team No. 14, the School also decided to establish an Election Organizing Committee consisting of all units to ensure the election is quick, smooth and achieves the best results.
- The Party Committee and the Board of Directors have given timely and close instructions for the election day to take place in accordance with the law and achieve results, but must ensure the safest work, especially in epidemic prevention and control... Based on that instruction, the on-duty department has carried out tasks such as disinfecting the voting area, preparing to measure body temperature, disinfect, wear masks, and maintain social distancing... In addition, the School has divided the time frame as well as the diagram and plan for the voting units from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on May 23, 2021.
- Up to this point, the decoration work has been completed and has been highly appreciated by the inspection team of Thanh Xuan District, Thanh Xuan Trung Ward and competent authorities for its thoughtfulness, methodicalness and compliance with the instructions of the Election Organizing Committee.

The school is the unit assigned to be the focal point for organizing 3 elections of National Assembly and People's Council deputies at all levels at the school from 2011 to 2021. This year, due to the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic, the number of registered students is modest because students are absent from school and studying online at home. However, the school believes that with close guidance and careful preparation, May 23, 2021 - the election day of the 15th National Assembly and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2021 - 2026 term will certainly be a great success, contributing to the overall success of the City and the whole country.

On behalf of the Party Committee of the University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Xuan Thach (Party Committee Secretary) expressed his concern and commended the close coordination between the units with the Board of Directors and the Election Steering Committee in effectively preparing for the election day. In particular, in the context of the complicated Covid-19 epidemic nationwide, the University has taken scientific measures to prevent the epidemic and ensure the safety of voters. The Party Committee Secretary hopes that the units will continue to maintain that spirit of coordination on the upcoming election day. With profound experience in organizing in 2011 and 2016, the University is fully capable of organizing this election safely and successfully.

At the meeting, representatives of the units' leaders also had questions and comments for the Election Steering Committee and received full and detailed responses.

Concluding the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh (Vice Principal of the University, Head of the Election Steering Committee) expressed his thanks for the attention and contributions of the representatives of the leaders of the units. The Vice Principal also reiterated a number of requirements to remember regarding the election implementation: units need to carefully prepare the composition, structure, and number of voters; remind voters, especially students, to strictly follow the arranged schedule, ensuring that work is completed on time; coordinate with the Student Affairs and Policy Department to thoroughly understand the work process and train student volunteers to participate in supporting voters; pay attention to the political and ideological situation of voters, promptly detect and prevent sabotage and hostile activities before and during the election.
