Attending the signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement, on the guest side, there were Mr. Nguyen Van Hoi - Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs; Prof. Annamaria Campanini - President of the International Association of Schools of Social Work; Prof. Jowima Ang-Reyes - Vice President of the Asia Pacific Association of Social Work Education; Dr. Nguyen Hai Huu - Vice President of the Association of Vocational Education and Social Work, President of the Association of Social Work Training Schools and delegates from the Social Work Associations of countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, etc.
On the side of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, China, there was the participation of Prof. Eric Chui, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences; Prof. Dr. Ku Hok Bun - Center for China Studies and Global Development Network and members.
On behalf of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, there were Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Truong - Vice Rector and leaders of training units and functional departments.
The signing ceremony was also witnessed by scholars, experts, researchers from universities, research institutes, and social organizations in 22 countries such as: China, Italy, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Israel, Laos, Japan, Singapore, Cambodia, United Kingdom, India, Albania, Uganda, Bangladeshi, Ethiopia, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Egypt, Zambia, Somali, Korea and Vietnam.
Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU highly appreciated the cooperation activities of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, China in the field of social work.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, emphasized that with the pioneering mission in training and researching Social Work in Vietnam, the University pays special attention to investing in developing the field of social work. VNU-USSH always promotes international cooperation, coordinates with international experts in this field to enhance the training of high-quality human resources for the social work sector, contributing to creating a sustainable development society. The cooperation between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, Hanoi and Hong Kong Polytechnic University, China with a focus on cooperation in social work, marks a new development step of the social work sector at VNU-USSH in particular and Vietnam in general.

Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong - Vice President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi and Professor, Dr. Eric Chui - Head of the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, China signed a cooperation agreement between the two universities.
Accordingly, there are many similarities between the two universities in potential areas of cooperation such as: scientific research in the field of social work in Vietnam and ASEAN, organizing international conferences in this field. In particular, the two units will implement student exchange activities, open internship courses, and summer camps for students of the two universities. This will be an opportunity for students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, to exchange and learn with international students and students of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University to learn about Vietnamese culture as well as study at VNU-USSH.
After the signing ceremony, the Faculty of Sociology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, in collaboration with partners, organized an international conference with the theme “Making a Difference – Social Work Without Barriers: Towards Sustainable Development and Responding to Emergencies”. The conference attracted 150 Vietnamese scholars and more than 90 scholars from 22 countries around the world.
