With the support and guidance of teachers, 13 students were divided into 2 research groups with 2 topics. Group 1 consisted of 7 students, guided by Dr. Hoang Thi Thu Huong (Head of Geography Group, High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities), conducted research on the topic "Empowering ethnic minority women through community tourism in Hoa Binh province, Vietnam". Group 2 consisted of 6 students who conducted research on the topic "Generation gap psychology" with the guidance of Dr. Pham Hai Linh (Teacher of Literature Group, High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities).

Nguyen Vu Anh Thu (Geography Specialized K3 student, representative of research group 1) shared about the research process: “This is the first time I have participated in scientific research and also the first time I have “taken the first steps” in exploring scientific terms such as “document overview, research hypothesis, sociological investigation…” It is also the first time I have written a complete scientific report. When participating in the research, I went away from home for the first time, going with my friends and teachers to the field in Hoa Binh. Throughout the preparation stages, there were many incidents, with many all-night meetings, edits, comments from teachers and many tense debates.
But all challenges can be overcome when we understand each other better, unite more and together reap worthy results in Singapore. After the trip, we are extremely proud to have brought the cultural identity of the Vietnamese people in general, and the Thai people in particular, to international friends, and at the same time, we are honored to receive the First Prize for the Best Research"
The research team went on field trips and interviews in Hoa Binh.
According to Vu Bao Chau (student of K3 Chuyen Ngu Van 1, representative of research group 2), the research time with the members of group 2 has brought him many different ups and downs: “When starting with a highly theoretical topic with 2 issues of psychology and generational psychology, at first, we encountered many difficulties in researching documents and putting the research into practice. However, thanks to the help of Ms. Pham Hai Linh, we had more opportunities to conduct field surveys, interview directly with a variety of subjects in life, from old to young, urban or rural, and also interview and survey online with students of NJC school within the framework of cooperation between the two schools. From there, we learned more about the generational psychology problem of the two countries, from which we came to a solution to this problem, which is harmony.”
Group 2 presented research results to the jury at the Conference.
Arriving in the beautiful country of Singapore on the afternoon of July 30, 2023 after a flight from Hanoi, the group of students and teachers of the High School for the Gifted in Social Sciences and Humanities received a warm and friendly welcome from the National Junior College (NJC). During their 6 days here, the group had the opportunity to visit famous tourist destinations in Singapore and experience learning with students at NJC.

Talking about his experiences and valuable lessons during his time in Singapore, Phung Gia Khanh (Geography Class 3 student) shared: “The trip to Singapore with teachers and friends at the High School for the Gifted in Social Sciences and Humanities brought me many interesting experiences, as well as memorable memories. Among them, I think the friendship across borders, across countries, regardless of gender, religion or ethnicity that we and our Singaporean friends built together in a short time really left an indelible mark on me.”
Khanh Linh, a student of CLC K3 added: “We have created many beautiful memories together that we will remember forever, even memories that we will carry with us for the rest of our lives. In the near future, my Singaporean friends and I will have the opportunity to meet again in Vietnam, and I look forward to the day when we can meet again and introduce the wonderful things that can only be found in the culture of Vietnam and the identity of the Faculty of Humanities to our international friends.”
Students from two schools exchange, interact and strengthen friendship
Sharing about the process of visiting and growing up in the Lion Peninsula, Dang Gia Tien (student of K3 Specialized History) confided: “The journey to Singapore has given me new research skills and knowledge. During the process of interacting and working directly with NJC students, we were exposed to open research methods, starting from simple questions and then being able to develop clearly into a complete research topic. Personally, I also observed and understood to some extent the openness in communication and learning approach of Singaporeans, showing sharpness when facing an unfamiliar problem.”
As for Dinh Pham Huong Giang (K3 Literature 2), the experience also brought her equally meaningful lessons: “One of the most meaningful things I learned after the recent trip was improving my soft skills, especially reading maps and communicating with people around me. Even though I only went for 6 days, I felt that reading maps and finding directions was much easier.”

“Study hard - Play hard”, not only having interesting experiences and discovery trips, the research team of the High School for Social Sciences and Humanities in the first time “bringing the bell to strike a foreign land” achieved excellent results when presenting research at the International Conference on Humanities 2023 (IHS). Surpassing 33 research groups from 14 schools, both topics of the teachers and students of the School of Humanities were highly appreciated and honored with the Best Research Award. The First Prize was awarded to the research on “Empowering ethnic minority women through community tourism in Hoa Binh province, Vietnam” and the Third Prize was awarded to the research on “Generation gap psychology”.
Both topics of the Faculty of Humanities were highly appreciated and honored with the Best Research Award.
Although the journey to explore Singapore has ended, the memories, lessons, and good relationships that the teachers and students of the Social Sciences and Humanities High School have built over the past 6 days will surely be forever preserved in the minds of each member of the delegation. This is also a strong momentum and a solid foundation for the journey of “reaching out to the world” of the Social Sciences and Humanities High School.
