Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) is preparing to welcome students of the QH-2022 cohort to study at its Hoa Lac campus.

According to the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Le Quan, based on the actual progress of construction projects at Hoa Lac, Vietnam National University, Hanoi will be ready to welcome students to study at the Hoa Lac campus in September 2022.

Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) prioritizes new students admitted in 2022 in certain fields of study such as engineering and technology, social sciences and economics, law, etc., following the A+B model of interdisciplinary and inter-unit training, who will study together at the Hoa Lac campus. In subsequent years, based on the actual area of ​​new construction, the scale of training at Hoa Lac will be increased to reduce overcrowding in downtown Hanoi.

The meeting was chaired by the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Le Quan.

Director Le Quan emphasized that the complex of buildings HT1 and HT2 in zone 4 of the University of Natural Sciences, Dormitory Area No. 4, is ready to accommodate nearly 4000 students according to the design scale, providing them with a modern and advanced university environment according to international standards.

The complex of two buildings, HT1 and HT2, in Zone 4 of the University of Science, is about to become operational.

Director Le Quan suggested that heads of units and leaders of relevant departments need to coordinate closely to implement the work quickly, effectively, and with quality. There should be no discussion of difficulties or setbacks. Regarding training programs, the Board of Directors requested the Training Department to act as the focal point to standardize the names of training programs, but this should be based on the A+B training model principle. Relevant units should coordinate with the Training Department to prepare for the 2022 enrollment period. Training programs should be designed in a liberal arts education direction, allowing students to customize their choices across multiple disciplines; training programs must also be linked to digital transformation to achieve the five objectives set by the Vietnam National University, Hanoi for the academic year.

The Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) has assigned tasks to relevant VNU units to resolutely fulfill the targets of the 6th Party Congress regarding investment and construction, striving to gradually transfer the management, teaching and learning, and research activities of the units to Hoa Lac between 2022 and 2025. By 2025, the first phase of VNU's facilities in Hoa Lac will be completed and put into operation to serve the training and research needs of 15,000 students.

The investment project to build the Vietnam National University, Hanoi in Hoa Lac includes 21 component projects with a scale of approximately 65,000 students; the land area used is approximately 1,113.7 hectares, of which the area for the Vietnam National University, Hanoi component projects is 887.9 hectares; the area for advanced research facilities is 112.1 hectares; and the resettlement area is 113.7 hectares.

Regarding project implementation, in the third quarter of 2021, many construction projects of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) in Hoa Lac showed positive progress. Construction was carried out expeditiously and completed according to the registered capital schedule for 2021. The complex of two buildings belonging to the University of Science construction project has entered the phase of completing shared infrastructure. Building 1 has been completed with a scale of 15,000m2 of construction floor area, and Building 2 is currently undergoing interior finishing with a scale of 20,000m2 of construction floor area. It is expected that by the second quarter of 2022, the entire complex will be completed, accommodating 4,000 students.

The HT1 building complex is a 5-story building with over 14,000 square meters of floor space, including 3 lecture halls with 120 seats each, 18 classrooms with 50 to 80 seats each, 10 laboratories, and 90 other offices. The HT2 building complex is a 6-story building with over 20,000 square meters of floor space, including 2 lecture halls with 120 seats each, 4 lecture halls with 80 seats each, 22 laboratories, 11 classrooms, and approximately 100 offices with various functions. Both HT1 and HT2 buildings are roughly equivalent in size to the current University of Science campus in downtown Hanoi.
